I'm thinking of giving up control line since it doesn't look like I'm ever gonna win the Walker Cup. Maybe if I took up singing I might have a chance with a Tin Cup......sitting at a Metro entrance with a guitar from Bobby H. Mostly doing covers. Maybe an original (sorta) now and then.
Here's one you might like:
Teosawkiville
(with apologies to Jimmy Buffett)
Flippin my wood prop
Not getting one pop
All of my airplane covered with goo
Pullin the glow-plug
Checkin the fuel jug
Why it won’t start - I haven't a clue
Chorus:
Wastin away again in Teosawkiville
Searching for my lost Nobler ARF
Some people claim that its control line to blame
But I know it's nobodys fault
I don't know the reason
I've flown here all season
Nothin to show for this balsawood mess
Not much of a fly-job
Got beat by a Bi-Slob
If it’ll loop is anyone's guess
Chorus:
Wastin away again in Teosawkiville
Searchin for my lost Nobler ARF
Some people claim that its control line to blame
Now I think
Hell, it could be my fault
I blew up my outside
Triangles too wide
Engine cut out while I’m doing my square
So, I whipped it like crazy
Eights were all lazy
Pattern points? I haven't a prayer!
Wastin away again in Teosawkiville
Searching for my lost Nobler ARF
Some people claim that its control line to blame
But I know it's my own damn fault
Yes, and some people claim that its control line to blame
And I know it's my own damn fault
You guys wanna get my autograph now, before the rush?

Outstanding

Awesome!

Wow Scott,
I think you should give up flying and just go full time song writing.
I can win more contest that way LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~
-
Bout sums it up alright...
-
Cool!

You know, that is very good!! H^^ It tells the average "Joe Bellcrank" story! But you can't give up control line if it was such an inspiration for such a fine example musical expression! Reminds me of the "Stuka Stunt Blues" by Tony Lang!! ( I'm just amazed I was able to remember his name!) If you have not heard "Stuka Stunt Blues" we need to find a way to have a digital copy made. I know I have a cassette tape of it some where, just gotta remember where my cassette tape collection is stashed.
-
Excellent, brought a smile to my face on a day I needed it! Good on you
-
Scott, that is outstanding ,you might have to much time on your hands. More practice might be in order🙂🙂. Nicely done my frend!
-
Well done! I'm sure you've found that music goes perfectly with flying and racing!
-
Applaud!!!!!

Scott
APPLAUSE!!!
And here I thought you were serious. Get together with Dennis Adamisin and his Old Time Stunt songs to the tune of That Old Time Rock And Roll. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

That's amazing! LL~

Way to go putting a smile on everyone’s faces.

A SCALE model would be cheap , spread over two years or more . and winable . Ofen the first years to get airworth , the second detailing , then superdetailing & refinements .
Or you could always try speed or Good Year
-
Hey guys ... I'm glad I could give you a good laugh and make your day! Thanks for the thanks!
Bob Hunt loves to sing and play the guitar, so maybe we could all sing it at his contest next fall at his after-flying party!
-
You need one of those monkeys, like on the old-time flicks! LL~

Nice job on the lyrics Scott. Hope Jimmie Buffet agrees.
If you can think up originals that good and find a good performer, maybe a young lady with great musicality you just might have another job.
You know, I never entered a match or started a Stunt flight hoping I was going to win. That kind of thinking just primes you for mistakes. You have to think about the amount of time and effort all the top guns going back years had. They all practiced a lot to get very good. It takes a lot of work, which isn't fun.
If you want to have fun, which is a biggy for most flyers, it takes some small group flying and regularly going to smaller contests. Especially fror PA you have to get a good coach who can properly evaluate maneuvers and explain what he saw.
Music is a lot of fun though. I've done it for years either in small groups or often for church congregations. Mainly for my own liking, but its also a help for the other people.

Frank: good question! I'd love to see a video of Shug singing TEOSAWKIVILLE. With his banjo it would be just right!
By the way, I wrote it up in honor of Frank Dobrydney. He is not only our NVCL Club President, but also the one who discovered the examination table silkspan, thus saving all of model-airplane-dum from having no alternative to plastic covering materials. However, I am sorry to report that he, unfortunately, has an addiction to TEOSAWKIes. The good news is that this has been ameliorated by his recent interest in auto-gyros. However, I'm not sure that that is an actual improvement in his "condition". ;D

I love the song (poem).
But please! Keep on flying!

I am now in a terrible quandry about what to do! Oh my! Oh my!
I guess I'll just have to ask myself: "WWBD?"
-
I think in your retirement, you should be able to handle both Scott n~

Just search out Jimmy Buffet and 'Wasted Away Again in Margaritaville!" I think I have things spelled correctly.
Type at you later,

Dear Dan,
Thanks for the infos: found immediately the original song. Good, light music for relax, drink and dance...
(That time from west coast I loved Kansas, Colosseum and similar not-too-easy progressive rock or fusion musics...)

Sit down. Clear your head. You will come to your senses. NO ONE LEAVES CONTROL LIINE!

Scott, you have to figure out how to sing AND fly at the same time. You have to leverage EVERY skill you have to obtain higher scores!!

We got it covered for the time being!!.

You need to get a few beers in you and a karaoke machine and do a full rendition of Teosawikiville! Get some of these other stunt guys/guitar players on board this winter when they get board and maybe we could come up with a whole album of stunt cover songs!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
