hey ya folks;

need some GOOD suggestions to do around the house.
Just had my left hip replaced last week and still on the meds., only have a few seats IN the house
that are comfortable enough to sit in at this time. Can't drive for at least 4 weeks, seen all our DVD's
we got here at the house more than once. Am just running out of things to keep myself occupied.
I can't go out in the garage at this time due to it being rather chilly and the chairs/seats out there are not comfortable
enough for the replacement area.

Any Good suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I spent the first week at a rehab facility. After that I hobbled around on a walker, then a cane for a while.

Carl - My wife Lisa had 2 hips done a couple years ago, only 2 months apart. They had her up the next day, PT at home for 2 weeks, and she was back to work in 4 weeks each time! She was so busy with PT and healing she didn't have time to get bored...and the meds do help time pass too, heh heh... I was so busy playing step-n-fetch it I wasn't bored either!

Kidding aside, boredom is in the mind. Go to Audible dot com, join up and download a few audio books, you can listen to them while you do other stuff... you are on your PC posting, so you have that... print out a dozen B&W line drawings of your next stunt ship and start doodling paint schemes... make a list of the steps you need to do, in the correct order, to work on your next plane in the shop. Knowing exactly what you are going to do next several shop sessions and how long it will take. It is a huge time saver and gets stuff built fast. Especially if it helps you make a shopping list for anything that could hold you up. Lots of things are available to keep an active mind busy these days. Hang in there, you shouldn't be out of circulation very long at all!

Carl, have you been keeping busy? If you have a computer you can look at all the Windy videos as we as Shug's also Sparky's. I been doing the daily games on windows and the jig saw puzzle on yahoo. Still can't you convince the wife to at least let you cut some ribs. Any way hope the hip gets better.

This might be a good time to build some freeflight rubber powered guys. I was house bound a couple of years ago and really enjoyed building a couple of peanut sized planes. Everything can be done with white glue and glue stick, so no fumes. The covering can be giftwrap tissue paper or even the plastic from the grocery store veggie bags if you don't mind the look. The whole thing will fit on a tv tray so it doesn't take up a lot of space either.

hey guys;

been doing a hell of a lot better than earlier this week.
Am now on the cane but whenI egt tired I have to go back to the walker.

been putzing around in the garage at the table and actually wound up
stripping the wing covering off as old (looks to be) an s-1 ring master that on of the club members
gave me a few weeks ago BECAUSE I have NEVER owned or flown for that matter a Ring master.

Covering (looked like old black baron cloth type iron on covering, forgot its name) came off with not one bit of effort at all.
left only a few little splotches of yellow on the LE and TE that i sanded. end of day 1

day 2 decided to sand the fuse down and removed the plastic stickers that were on it. sanding was a sinch sense the plane is so old, BUT I had to use
a blade to carefully lift off and remove the old plastic stickers. THAT was a pain in the azz.

Friday felt great (but not pushing it), covered the wings with iron on film and masked them off and primed then sprayed the fuse. (Rustoleum) first time I used that for painting.

Sat. let is sit all day WITH OUT touching it. Stayed inside and watched alot of old Scifi movies I got from my daughter. LOVED THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today peeled off the newspaper from the wing and came back inside where I am now and watching the F1 race (no sound for some reason on channel 13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and am now getting ready to watch NASCAR racing for the afternoon. Watching Tractor Pulls right now.

I did forget to take pics of the plane as I received it but got a few of the plane now and will post them here when I get round to it this evening.

I must say, I have really enjoyed getting back to my table in the garage BUT I do know when to knock it off when I start to get tired.

One thing I must say, the ring master is no light weight. Seems to weigh a ton for a plane that size. Think It might have been a Sterling kit. All the rib numbers are visible and the ribs
have these very little square cut outs for the lead out wires. A few I had to enlarge as the wires were and had been slicing in to the ribs.

Well, thats what I have been up to no for the past few days guys.

Like I said, I feel much better BUT I do know when to call it quits.

I didn't take any before pictures of the plane either, except for the repair I made to it. Here's the "before" of the bottom of the fuselage right behind the wing. I don't know the history of the plane, but it's last pilot apparently did not have a very successful "landing".

Carl, the Sinfonity video was very cool. I would be able to just cruise all the cool music on YouTube for days.

Good luck with your hip! My knee is better than before the operation, but I'm not sure it'll ever be real good again.

I have heard from the surgeon that did myhip up at Walter Reed, that the knee replacement is one of the hardest ones on the person having it done to.
Said, they have to do all the Pysio visits, keep up the practice regiment while doing so and just keep it moving as much as possible.

One supervisor that used to work with me, had one knee replacement surgery, and did he take the doctors advice and such?, NOPE, no he just shuffles around
and can not figure out why he can't get around better. (even tho just about every one at work told him he had to do what the physio people told him to do).

Yeah, I stumbled on the Sinfonity videos and they are great. Could not even imagine electric guitars NOT sounding like the usual electric guitars that folks are used to hearing.
These guys are great. They are out of Madrid Spain and have just landed a contract with Sony Recording Studios in Europe.

Noooooooo! Just a wee bit of poking around in there fixing a torn meniscus. Still not any fun. Haven't had much experience with operations...appendix at about 60, some skin cancer removals and this knee thing. The worst part is that none of the meds have been tolerated well...Tylenol/Codeine clogged the main pipe, while two anti-inflamitants gave me the scoots. Not a good thing with a bum wheel, so had to quit taking them. Frozen peas help, tho.

Steve; Tell me about the meds man, One of them I was on had me so looped up it wasn't funny. Got off that one FAST!!!!!!! The Mrs. said I was making passes at all the nurses when they came in to my room. I can't remember any of it.

Gosh, Carl, that sounds like a lot of fun! I didn't even get a good nap from any of the stuff they prescribed for me. What drug was that one you got? Did they give you Viagra by accident? Have you still got some of that?
