Things that matter

Sad news today. Very proud to say that I was fortunate enough to meet this man personally and have a short conversation, more than once, shake his hand, and give my thanks.

The impressive thing to me is 409 missions in three different conflicts! Definitely an inspiration.

Do I remember correctly? When the Tuskegee airmen accompanied the heavy bombers in daylight raids over Germany, no heavy bombers were lost? This happening in a segregated army. The Tuskegee airman an African American squadron.

Something like that. The Red Tails were really liked by the bomber crews because got in and stayed in the fight.

I never met General McGee personally but I did have the privilege of meeting some of the airmen. They were always gentlemen and their patriotism was without question. Ed.
