For lunch the wife and I went to a Bob Evans Restaurant here in Indianapolis. We ordered and in time were served. The Waitress laid our Check down and left. I had not yet looked at the Check when the Waitress returned and said she needed our Check. I assumed she had not charged us for our drinks or something. When we were ready to leave the waitress came back and told us that our lunch had been paid for and the person has told her to tell us "Jesus Loves You." We have no idea who paid for our lunch. The waitress only said she was a middle aged looking lady and had already left the restaurant. "God Bless that Lady."

I used to travel a lot on business. One eveniing I was sitting alone in restaurant, and a couple told a waitress that I looked lonely and they paid for my dinner when they were leaving.
There are some really good people in this world that we never hear about.
A few weeks I paid the favor forward.

Did you pray 'thanking the Lord' before eating? Many folks will notice that. We always pray before eating no matter where. It was tough on a cruise ship the first time we all sat down as an assigned group. Being somewhat forward I simply said; "We give thanks before we eat. If anyone objects we will pray in silence." Some caught us later and thanked us. For some it was the first time in a very long time since they bowed their heads. My job is not to make anyone feel uncomfortable with their spiritual condition. That is the job of the Holy Spirit. Mine is to be a witness for Christ where ever I am. Now that you have been blessed by an anonymous donor you in turn pass on the blessing by feeding a hungry person in your town.

Yes...I can remember some of my lean years in the very late 50's and 60's...
Too often in those daze days, I would show up at Delta Park in Portland with nothing but my old Kenhi Wild Cat and a set of lines...
Gene Mathney who I didn't know at the time noticed that I had sat my old model down on the end of the line of airplanes. As I sat there on my bent up old tool box... He and his friend Tim Dunlop noticed me sitting there and soon walked over and offered me a cup of fuel and a jump start on a new battery.
Then just before leaving the field for the day, Gene walked over and asked if I would like to join him and Tim Dunlop for dinner at that little Denny's that was next to the Columbia River just north of the Park for dinner!!! WOW!
Thinking back over the years...Gads I am sorry to say that soooooooo many times in my early life I seemed to show up at sooooooooooooo many times at my model building friends home's just about at "supper time?
George Lieb, Ben Madsen, Bob Emmett, Joe Dill, Gary Letsinger...Tim Dunlop...and so many others...THANKS for always being there for me...and most of all Thanks be to GOD for all the years of Alms of food, model parts and and caring friendship.
Like the song says: "I OWE, I OWE...MY SOUL TO THE COMPANY STORE" and for soooo much more! So many Blessing given but sooooo many owed. BW@ H^^

What a nice story Clancy.
A few times when we were traveling on vacation we had to go thru some toll booths. A few times we paid for the car behind us.
I think the giver gets back more then they give.
Give it a try sometimes.

Hey, I got a free lunch today too! #^ #^ After flying (50 degree temps/slight wind/overcast sky) I stopped at Sam's Club; had pizza twice, and a great chicken taco. Just wish they would demo the beer once in awhile so I could wash all the food down properly. y1

This is my latest (about 2 years ago) my sister in law brought me a bbq chicken meal from "El Pollo Loco". I was on my second or third spoon full of pintos, when i noticed a huge dead cockroach on his back in the middle of my spoon! n~ That was a free meal. no bueno comida,!! ??? I never really acquired a taste for cockroaches, dead or alive, free or not!!!! :'( jim

In college, I ran completely out of money, a week before our monthly payday at the Physical Science Lab. I took my prize guitar to a pawn shop and tried to get a loan - I was offered the princely sum of $7 for a loan against it, which I refused (it was an old Gibson my uncle had given me, and pawn broker objected to a scratch on its headpiece). I had about $5 left so I went to the store and bought some peanut butter, eggs, crackers and several boxes of the store brand (Shure Fine!) macaroni and cheese (they were only 14 cents a box, this was 1967). When I got home and started to prepare some macaroni and cheese, I found the boxes were all full of "miller" bugs. The solution was to let the bugs float to the top of the water and skim them off for discard. (Later I was informed I should have left the bugs, as they are an excellent source of protein..)
To supplement my low cost meals, I ashamedly admit that I stole some tomatoes from my neighbor's plants during that period.
BTW, PSL eventually started paying twice a month, but only after it was mandated by government contracts. By saving its precious accounting department the massive labor and expense of an extra computer payroll run all those years, PSL lived up to its nickname "Poor Student Labor". I well remember that my monthly take home during that time was $147.80..
To see me now, you'd never believe I ever had anything short of a full meal.. Everyone says, "pull up a couple of chairs and sit down, Larry."

I *wish* I did! I stupidly traded it for a 12-string (which I no longer have either).. I had no idea what it was likely worth, it had seen service for many years in honkytonks while Uncle Jim developed alcoholism. He was a great guitar player, retired to become a preacher after he stopped drinking and gave me his guitar. I should have kept it for sentimental reasons alone.
