I jump on an off of FB. I’m back on for a bit.
Has anyone seen that guy flying the White Twister?

Wow!

Who is that guy. Was he on the worlds team?

I think he is Japanese. he flies incredible with all sorts of stuntships..

I've seen him fly that White Twister. Looks like a fun combination with the Brodak 40 he uses.

I do not know who he is but he is in Japan. He posts a lot of videos on facebook.

That's Masashige Uematsu from Japan. He posts regularly on the Control Line Flying group on facebook. He flew quite competitively in the early 2000s with a Blue Max (image below). He never made a worlds team but back then Japan easily had 30+ pilots try out. And between Minato, Hiki, and Yokohama, it was pretty darn hard to get on the team.

I looked through some recent contest results in Japan and I don't think he competes in their equivalent of Open/Expert PA anymore. He is a regular competitor in Japan's version of classic, which I think they call Nostalgia and is for planes from the 70's and before. He's a regular podium finisher in that category. He also competes in Powers International/KM Co. contests that are just for Kimura kits (simple, small planes). The second photo is that contest and the neat 15-size Ki-43 Kimura plane he flew in it. By the way, I have reviewed KM Co./Kimura's kits on this site here.

He's just "a guy" on FB. It's his personal account. Hi name is in Japanese characters and no translation button, so we don't know who he is unless you can read it.. Says he tried out for the national team on several occasions starting in 2004 but couldn't quite crack it. Many if us have been able to meet some of the Japanese team members and fly with/against them in that time frame when they came here for other events, so you know he had his work cut out for him.

Jake, is the third picture what he won for the Kimura kit entry? It looks like a special bottle of wine and a Hot Wheels version of Speed Racer's Mach 5? LOL! Can't read the certificate, so just curious.

The certificate just states the placing, contest, days etc. and the glass chalice on the left is the trophy. I'm pretty sure the Mach 5 is his own because he really likes Speed Racer and paints a lot of his planes in the Mach 5 livery. I am fairly certain he bought that bottle of wine to drink from the chalice in celebration. It's common for door prizes at control line contests in Japan to be bags of local food, snacks, and sake. But that's a Portuguese bottle so I doubt that's what happened here.

His various motors run well and he posts himself starting the motor, running the lines out and usually flying a pattern. The view of the flight is usually from his arm. I like to watch him almost daily.

I'd like to watch other people's self-shot videos, but only a few people try it.

You can search this site. Someone has developed tracking software. You setup a camera a few meters behind where the judges might stand. Video your flight then process it through the software. It overlays a color tracer over your shapes. It will make you very aware of your errors. There are some examples on YouTube as well.

When I was still a member of PAMPA Stunt News, I sent my photo along with it every year when I renewed it, so my photo appeared in the magazine, but I was surprised when my T-bird was featured in color in the 2003 issue.

I would like to point out that what he is flying is a STOCK Twister!! I thought it looked stock and asked Masashige on FB if it was and he confirmed it, and quoted his control horn height at the flaps and at the elevator. Like I have said many times in the past, Ted's mods to the Twister are nice, but can add weight and complexity that isn't needed at the rank beginner level and probably not much past that point. Just build it straight and pay attention to details, keep the finish simple and learn to fly it!! His control horns were 22mm for the flap horn I believe, and 25mm for the elevator. That may be different from the kit dimensions but should give nice, smooth and slow control movements and can be adjusted easily at the elevator horn and at line spacing. Then just add PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! to find your way to the winners circle!!Or even just to make your planes last longer and go home with you in one piece after each session!!

The structure has not changed. The 3-inch bell crank that comes with the kit is the opposite. The front is the UP line.
Flap horn height 22mm, elevator horn height 25mm.
