Title: The unfulfilled promise of electric power....
Post by: Scott Richlen on May 12, 2019, 11:00:33 AM
So I was flying yesterday with John M who has a fleet of Cardinal profiles that we have modified to take full advantage of electric power systems (did all the recommended aero changes - reducing flap width, increasing tail area; plus we shortened the nose to eliminate the need for added tail weight to balance out the battery and we increased fuselage side area to give us better line tension up top.)  The planes really fly great.

We take turns flying and after my turn John picked up my Neptune and moved it to the pits.  He then asked if he could "borrow" a paper towel from me.  He explained "I need to get the oil off my hands so my control handle doesn't slip out of it."

See - unfortunately for John, I fly with an LA-46.  So, in spite of going electric, he still gets slimed..... ;D

Ahhh, the unfulfilled promise of electric power.    :P
