Title: The Thundergazer, 2013 contest stuntship
Post by: Matt Colan on January 07, 2013, 05:39:17 PM
On the last day of vacation, I met my goal of finishing the Thundergazer and having it ready to fly!

Some quick stats on the airplane:

Engine: RO-Jett 61 with Brett Buck timing (I'm copying his setup to the letter)
Prop: Brian Eather 12.5-3.75 three blade
Specia Features: Dallas Hanna take apart system.  This was supposed to be the plane I was going to take with me to the Worlds in Bulgaria, but I never went.

The CG is perfect, and is right where the plans show. I never checked the vertical CG.

I gotta thank Dave Fitzgerald for answering all the questions we had when building the plane, Mike Chiodo for helping me out with the paint scheme and make it flow a little better. Also, I gotta thank Dallas Hanna for the take apart system, Bob Hunt for the lost foam wing, Ron Merrill for the engine, Derek Barry for the masks for the letters, and most of all my grandfather for helping me through this build and keeping a good eye on it while I was at college.  I hope I didn't leave anyone out.

That is completely wonderful.  I especially like the lettering on the wing, which I intend to copy, although with a different number and maybe a different name.

Matt, that's an outstandingly beautiful and harmonious finish design, certainly one of the best (IMO) I've ever seen, and it's on such a potent stunt design! I'm very impressed with your strides as a builder too.

Matt with your permission, I would like to post a pic of your plane over at RC Universe,(my other hangout). There is a guy over there, who is killing it with a Joe Bridy-UFO, and I would like to show him how "The Stunt Boys" roll.
