Title: The Pretender is finished
Post by: Mike Griffin on January 10, 2024, 01:27:35 PM
Well the PRETENDER is finished.  As you see her, she weighs 28 ounces less fuel.  It balanced perfect where it was supposed to without any tail or nose weight.  That is a VECO .19 for power and I have a 9 x 4 prop on it to start with.  The wing was Millenium Construction and the fuselage was built up and sheeted.  Paint is Klass Kote Orange, Turquoise and White with Klass Kote clear over that.  I do not have spray equipment but there is not a brush mark on the plane anywhere.  Klass Kote levels out perfectly when mixed 1 part paint, 1 part catalyst and 1 part reducer.  Now to see how she will fly.

OK, I'll bite, what is she pretending to be?  Looks great!

I do not know Ken.  Maybe she is pretending to be a PA stunter...a wanna be.  She is kind of a cute little thing though.

Simple, yet colorful, paint scheme.  Nice color combination.

I was wondering how well Klass Kote brushed on.  I might have to try that.  Spraying it is a bit of a chore, having to take the gun apart to make sure every bit of that paint is cleaned out.

I have heard that the Klass Kote clear will yellow, sometimes rather quickly.  Let us know if that happens.

Jim this is the first time I have used their clear.  I will certainly let you know.  If you reduce the paint like they tell you to, you will not get any brush marks.  Or at least I did not.  The stuff is a little on the pricey side but a very good product.
