Well I finally finshed the restoration of the plane my friend gave me.  It included an "almost new" Fox .59, I think it turned out quite nice.  I hope to fly it this coming Saturday.  I am including the before and after pictures.

Hi Andy,

Great restoration Job! Is that a modified Super Ringmaster, or a Veco TomTom, or?

In the tradition of Stan's Doodle Streak being named (by you?) "Heidi", you need to name this classic of yours.

When your plane was new I think the song with ".....the .....  purple people eater" was in. It seems to fit your subtle color!  n~  The "Flying Grape" also comes to mind. I think that MonoKote is made in the Napa Valley?

I look forward to watching it fly on Sat. at Whittier Narrows. I'll bring my geared electric starter for the Fox.  #^

Hi Rudy
It really is a plane with no name.  Yes it does kind of look like the Super Ringmaster only much bigger, and it kind of looks like a Kenhi Cougar expect the wing is not swept.  It was built early in 1970 and given to an old friend of mine from Jr. High School days.  Its been sitting in his garage rafters all these years and when we got together he offered it to me if I wanted it.  As you can see from the before picture it was in sorry shape.  The motor was froze and needed to be disassembled and run through a crook pot and the plane was stripped down sanded and recovered.  The guy that built the plane new his stuff, the tank was modified to a uniflo configuration and the construction was well done.  I am looking forward to trying it out, maybe this weekend.  Too bad it does not meet either old time or classic rules.  It is really a classic plane but rules are rules.

Aw heck call it a Super Ringmaster and fly it in Classic anyway, most contests have done away with fidelity points and if I understand the classic rules no CD in his right mind would not let it fly.

I actually have considered flying it at local contest in Classic.  Given the fact there is no chance I will deprive anybody of a trophie I really don't think there will be a problem.  VSC is out of the question, there really is no wiggle room in their rules.  For what its worth I have no problem with the VSC rules, its just a shame there are so many classic planes out there just short of the current rules.  Maybe an event can be conjured up that will allow these planes to be shown off.
