Pactra paint
« on: December 21, 2017, 03:58:14 PM »
A guy over on RC Groups is selling a lot of Pactra dope. I do not know him. He appears to be in Utah and willing to ship. Someone a while back was looking for some so I thought I would share it here.

While I haven't used Pactra (Aerogloss) dope since about 1960, I'd stay well away from it. From what I have read over the years, there were two or three different formulations, which may or may not be compatible with anything else, including earlier or later Aerogloss. Nobody seems to know for sure what to use for thinning.

There was a discussion here on SH, of old AG within the last two weeks. The general concensus was to avoid it like the plague. Or, in my case, Tetnus shots...I had one almost a week and a half ago, and I swear I'll never get another one. Right arm still feels like it's been shot with a .30-30.  >:(  Steve

I sure wish the old Aero Gloss (red label) was still available. I have an Omega that I built on the kitchen floor of our second apartment in the early 1970's and it is just as good as the day it was finished. It hasn't split the covering or flaked or any other nasty stuff. Can't say the same on much newer builds using Sig dope.
