I finally finished the "adopted" Manx Cat tonight and it's ready to fly. Well, as ready as one can be anyway. Power is a good 'ol Redhead McCoy and I expect it'll be a bit of a handful when released into it's natural habitat. ;D
For the full reincarnation story on this adopted critter look here: http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=22186.0
Here's some pics of the finished animal...

You're gonna' have your hands full there, Wayne. Let us know how it works out!
(Nice job on the re-build/finish, by the way!)

Looks good, good luck with it.

Looks great and I hope it flies as well as it looks. Like the skid plate, but where's the tip skids. Oh, that's right, deep grass won't hurt. H^^

Wow, always a pleasure to view your various projects. Wow again! #^

Wayne,
Looks great. I love the old Top Flight prop. Have fun.
-
That looks sweet!!!! Good luck with it.

Let us know how it flies! Better yet, get someone to to make a movie and post it!
-
It looks like it is going to be a kick in the pants!
It is nice to see the red head. I like the looks of the older engines.
What is the small #9 on the top wing for?
-
I love the old Navy color scheme! The carrier planes before and during the early part of WW2 were some of my favorites!

Duh! The 9 is for Nine Lives! ;D ;D ;D (Manx Cat)

Waynezy, as usual, another beautiful job.

That is actually a really nice design. I wouldn't mind having a kit, or just the plan for it. How does it fly? What length lines would you use? H^^

So, was that plane ever intended for serious competition, or was it just a nice funky sport plane to hang next to your Sarpoulis Wild Goose?
-
It was for all out combat in its day. It construction is what killed the idea. Like the Sweet Sweep was an all out combat plane, but people could not build it straight until Walter kitted it. H^^

Yes, like Doc says Walter Umland offers a short kit of the Manx Cat IV. He can be found in the Vendor section here on the forum.
I'm thinking it will fly more like a scalded cat. I'll probably use 60 foot lines.

"Scalded Cat"??? With a McCoy .36RH? Might make it to 70mph. I've never seen one fly, but my bet is that it will be better suited to hanging on the wall. If you like the way it flies, I'll eat a bug. ~^ Steve

I'm actually right there with ya on those thoughts Steve. I guess I expect to handle about like a scalded cat. It'll be a trick just to start and launch it without it attacking anyone in the immediate vicinity.
This one was simply a resto project just for fun and after a few "orientation" flights will likely become a shop ornament. Neat little bugger though! y1

Ah yes, the old Manx Cat IV from February 1957 Flying Models Magazine.
Long ago and far away (1959 in Green Ridge, MO), a friend of mine built one of these and covered it with parachute nylon. His plane was AeroGloss dark red and powered by a K&B.35 greenhead. It was always in a hurry! It was steady as a rock in flight and quick in maneuvers. "A tail-less terror for combat fans that'll turn on a dime and give 9 cents change" as the Flying Models Magazine article said......unique in flight characteristics and presented an unusual appearance in flight. A real fun airplane........I have the plans.............might have to build one of these critters...................one of these days! y1 #^ H^^
