The Internet is a Tough Room
« on: January 23, 2023, 01:03:15 PM »
First, I would like to thank Sparky and the rest of this community for all the discussion.  A lot of great information here that sustains the hobby of control line flying.

Second, it's become clear that the Internet is a tough room.  One of the central powers that a site owner has is the ability to squelch.  For example, let's say you have a business established that uses a platform like facebook, Twitter, Uber, eBay, etsy or Amazon.  Showing up to work one day, you may find that your account has been blocked and your business is defunct, subject to a capricious reign.

Returning to the compliments, this website retains its value.  As do some facebook groups, such as PAMPA, MACA, etc.  However, there is a smaller facebook group related to a specific AMA Combat interest that is encountering difficulties.  A recent discussion here regarding IP brought this to light.

onward,

Peter

Yes, several facebook groups are of little value in my opinion, though I'm often wrong.  I joined several new groups centering on the city I recently moved to and found (1) a couple of groups that appear to be nothing more than places for the administrators to post spam or even phishing links (don't tell me facebook polices it, 'cuz they don't) and (2) my favorite - a site to post rants and raves about local businesses where the administators delete rants about businesses they obviously want to protect.

Hey, it's called Free Speech!  Kinda juvenille in my opinion, but I'm not required to join, so let them play games!

And yes, Thanks Sparky!

Think for yourself !  XXX might win the Nats, be an expert on designing, building, finishing, flying, tuning engines - but you might not wanna take tax advice from him.  Or consider his views on the climate to be fact ...
