The high price of history?
« on: July 10, 2018, 09:35:33 PM »
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bob-Hunts-Genesis-MKIII-Foam-Wing-and-Tail-Set-Semi-Kit/223037983312?hash=item33ee198a50:g:u9UAAOSwhDVbNn6y:sc:USPSPriority!81201!US!-1

I have this magazine somewhere, I wonder if I should find it and see if I can get this much for it.

I remember going to the bookstore and every month looking forward to the next months edition and $1.00 was sometimes hard for me to dig up.

P.S. I have other magazines too from around that time. I wonder if I can retire early ???

That's for a whole kit. I think it's actually a good price, considering what you'd pay if you ordered it all. Wish I could afford it right now. Lol.

It must be getting late, I saw the magazine cover and thought they were trying to get that for the magazine, my bad. I've seen sillier stuff on the bay while window shopping.

Thanks for setting me straight Dane I'll have to pay better attention. Now I better get to bed before I lose my way.

No problem. I always love to see those crazy ebay postings. This one happens to be from someone we all know and love.

I have one of the most largest and most complete model magazine collections in the country, including Flying Models complete from it's first issue under that title in June of 1947 I think it was, and almost all of the Air World and Flying Aces that preceded it, Magazines are fun and very addicting, but not as bad as heroin or crack cocaine! In tracking model mags on eVilBay, I would see some go for really high prices, actually being sold, not asking price, up to and above 100 bucks or more. I would go down to my collection and dig out that issue, and find nothing that was all that special, but maybe it  had some one's picture or a beloved relative or something and that would drive the price up. I had heard of the first issue of Model Builder commanding 200 bucks or more, but don't know of anyone that actually paid that. I paid 300 bucks for a complete collection of Model Builder, got the first issue and a few others I needed, then sold the rest off for a nice profit. Probably can't do that these days, but at least I got mine!

Be the envy of all your peers on the 2019 VSC flight line...

I would actually like to have a couple of those if anyone has any just laying around. Not interested in one at THIS price, though! Just want to add it to my collection of SIG stuff and maybe use one for flying 1/2A stuff.
    hey Bruce, how you doin'!!???
