Cox concept 2 engines
« on: February 13, 2017, 03:53:01 PM »
Cox concept 2 engines were proposed about the time they went under. There are a few prototypes out there, but not many.

Somehow I came up with both a 1979 Cox sales catolog and dealer catalog.

The engines never reached production, at least partially due to the difficulty of honing into a blind bore. The head was part of the cylinder! I think K&B solved that problem about a decade later.
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Both OK and O&R managed it a long time ago. I believe others also managed it.

I am not trying to hijack this thread.  But thought it appropriate to mention that Cox also had plans for a line of spinners.  Plastic cones with Al backplates.  Nice shapes.  From 1" diameter to at least 2" diameter.  Bolts through the center line and had appropriate adapters for the size of the engine.  Dale Kirn had a whole drawer full of these things.  They had proofs to be used in advertisements.

I think the spinners actually made it into production. May have been under the Airtronics lable.
