This is going to be part thank-you annd part introduction mostly the latter. I have been a member of this Forum since Oct. 25 06.

I started flying control line back in 1954 with my Dad and his "Zilch" with a Super Cyclone. Most of the time I was just the wing wiper but eventually he taught me to fly it.

I graduated to "Ringmasters and "Foxes" in the late 50's, I flew Combat for a while with a Midwest Hornet and a "Fox Blackhead". I never flew compitition on the Nats level only Local and not that often. I am Sport flier.

I did a stint in the Marines between 65 and 69, went to Nam in 68 and 69. Nuff said (BAD MEMORIES)

I started engine collecting in 69, don' know how many I have now, lost count a long time ago. Sophie, my wife, says if I buy any more she's going to leave me. I gonna miss her and there will be one heck of a custody battle for the dog.

The trip down memory lane that you guys and gals have taken me on with your posts is priceless. Most of the pictures of old and new planes I recognise, I grew up in awe of them. I grew up with the names of some of you, to numerous to mention here.

Watching the P-47 take shape has been inspiring.

I'm going to start flying again this year with Larry Richards Veco P-51 replica and an OS .35 that I have been saving.

It's nice to be back, it's stirred the old grey matter,something that hasen't been done in a while. I've met some new friends on the Forum.

THANKS for the trip back in time, I hope it never ends? May God bless you all.

Sophie doesn't mean a word of it.. My wife makes the same threat all the time.. Oct 10, 2006 was the start of our 41st year of marriage.. She told me one time that she would probably let me hang around a while longer. Said that training my replacement was too much trouble..   **)

Bill and Nick;

  Sophie tells me stuff like that all the time, when I am dumb enough to ask why, she just says it's a woman thing, you don't need to know. HA HA HA. It's been 36 +yrs. now, I'M HAPPY. (6 Kids also)

Bigiron;

  Your friendship will always be there. I going to the Brodak Contest just to meet you and the wonderful lady that answers the phone all the time. I'll bring a couple of "Hornets" with "Blackheads" and we'll play tag.

Bill and Bill:

No, our wives are probably not kin except they're all of the female gender.. It's not in the "books" for man to understand the mind of woman.. Over the years if I've learned one thing, it's to never question a woman about anything she says..

Sometimes I wake up grumpy, but most mornings, I just let her sleep..

Yeah, the "let (grumpy) sleep" line.  You know these things always get back to them! We let our guard down, thinking it's safe, the wives don't frequent these places, don't even know where they are or how to get on line...then it's "By the way, that thing you said on Stunthanger..." and you know you're in trouble.

Funny line. George Burns?

Well, women have been raised to appreciate gold, silver, and other precious metals. It's probably hard for them to understand how precious a little hunk of aluminum etc. can be to us.  :D

When someone points out something I've said, my wife just shrugs and says," That must have been his butt talking, his mouth knows better than to say something like that."....

My wife never says "I told you so", however she can get a smug look on her face that says it better than words.

A few months ago we were in Columbia TN. We were going to go back thru Tulsa, OK to watch one day of their contest, on the way home to Kansas.  When we left Columbia my wife got the map out to follow along as to where we were.  My wife is an excellent map reader. I said; "you can put that away, I know where I am going" After a couple of hours driving I got that dreaded feeling that I am sure that everyone has had, I think I might be on the wrong road. Reluctantly I mentioned it to my wife. She said smugly "do you want me to look at the map?". I said go ahead. In a few seconds she said you are almost to Alabama. Technically she was wrong because I was slightly into Alabama by then. I also had to go thru Mississippi before I got back to the right road.  Smug look for a couple of days.
