New style muffler I'm trying:
« on: February 26, 2009, 12:42:33 PM »
I ran out of aluminum tubing, and couldn't get any at my gettin place! So I rounded up an old chainsaw handlebar and discovered this new design. This is before the cutout for the exhaust port:

The finished product is on the plane....I don't have a scale, but maybe I can get a weight another way. The whole piece is 4" long, and it's 1/16" thick, aluminum and has a brass baffle. Let me see if I can get a weight.  Oh yeah, it has an aluminum strap and two 4/40 engine mounting screws with lock washers. Whsheeeew, okay, I weighed it and it registered 2/10ths of an ounce[on a baby scales]....like to have never got the thing zeroed....must be the high humidity LL~

Here's the only other photo I took, Doc; it's from the rear[such as it is]....I just realized I'm gonna have a problem with that fuel line...I better fasten it to the firewall. ;)
