Was over my friend Kreth's house looking thru some of his old stuff and ran across this picture.

Can anyone ID this guy?

That's Howard all right.  That is the way he looked when he used to show up at local combat meets in Kansas City, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri back in the 1960's and 1970's.  That photo is hot off the old Nemesis II kit plan (I have one of those kits on the shelf).  Love that Nemesis II!      y1     #^     D>K

The picture had to be taken in the very early 60's. It is John Lennon before he gave up combat and picked up a 6 string.

Yes, the one and only Howard Rush before he became really famous.  I too have the plans I got from him win he won the NATS and also a kit still in the box.   I did build one Nemesis and flew it a short time.   It needed a good pilot like my planes still do. H^^

I had the honor of meeting Howard at the 2007 NATs, when he found out he was "front row." "Spittin image of the picture."

When clicking on the picture of you-know-who it came up inverted. The scary part is that such seemed normal.

This continuing deal about Howard and his clown suit has got to be the longest-lasting stunt in the history of CL flying. It certainly leads world-wide when it comes to effort put forth slapped up against attention gained.

I have grown to regret having had anything to do with publishing that picture.

(Use of an emoticon seems appropriate to show smirking grin but I continue to think those things are pure evil.)

We would all have done better if Howard would have left the "highly classified" NEMESIS II at home on contest days in the 1960's and had instead, flown some Riley Wooten or Carl Berryman designs.  I don't remember ever beating a NEMISIS II in a contest match and I flew against several of them over the years.   y1    D>K

Well he let me beat them one year at Swope Park before he left for college.   I mean they didn't have their act together that day or the combat gods were frowning on them.   Full five minutes of flying waiting for them to get air borne.  Doubt if Howard would remember that day.    H^^
