In the absence of real build threads, here's what's keeping me off the streets these days:
It's a sorta-C37, with Phil Cartier wings on a 1/2" thick balsa fuselage. The design intent is to get something simple into the air, that I won't feel too bad about crashing.
It flies way better than it should, or at least it did before I went and goobered it up with electronics. I haven't flown it with the TUT installed -- I'll find out if that messes things up soon.

Here's the installation of the TUT in the test pig. Part of the reason it's a high wing is to give me plenty of room to install junk -- the other part is because Phil's wing cores don't come cored for lines, so I needed to run them externally.
The top photo shows, from left to right, the battery, voltage regulator and power switch, and the TUT.
The bottom photo shows the engine rotation sensor -- the sensor is on the fuselage, while the hunk of aluminum behind the prop is the remains of the spinner backplate on Test Pig #2 after it tried to fly to China through the dirt of our flying field. This sensor delivers a pulse to the TUT once per engine revolution, which the TUT uses to determine engine speed.
This video shows the position sensor for the control system (I have yet to paint the servo tray). This is an old Royal servo with all of the guts removed except for the pot and output shaft, and with a board installed that delivers an RC-style pulse to the TUT for recording.

That shade exactly matches the shade of the paint after you spill the Really Purple powermaster fuel on it.
I was aiming for "crude" when I did the masking -- I didn't want anyone thinking that I, like, cared or anything.

This resembles a Bob Palmer design called the High Boy, I think. You could have painted it Cub Yellow also. As long as it gets the job done!

I'd like to build a High Boy. The plans I've seen for it have the leadouts coming through the wing tip, though.
