I finally got some time to finish this. Ted told me it was one of the best flying planes he ever designed...

really cool, Mike. my friend showed me a pic of his electric imitation yesterday at the flying field. it looks sweet! maybe he'll bring it out next week.

Thanks Dane... I think this is a really pretty design.. I love the lines on this plane. Electric will be good on it I am sure. I am going with an LA.46 I got from Randy Smith... should be a great combination... I am just wet sanding the base coat right now. I have to shoot it with another coat of white and pick out a trim scheme.....I started this puppy a year ago and had to put it away for a while.....life gets in the way you know...I scratch built this one except for the ribs which I had laser cut.

I was fortunate enough to buy the last Imitation kit offered by UHP. It is still in the box, but from the peek I took, it is of the same excellent quality that all their stuff is. I hope to build it soon...

Hi Mike, You will love this plane. I have one and several of my flying buddies have them. You may want to have more power than the LA .46.
Several have PA .65 Mine had DS .54 . Years ago the plane was flown with ST .46 so if it is light enough the LA may work. I agree with this being
an excellent design. I deeply regret not building these over and over again..

Yes, I am sure I will build it. It was the very last one they had and wasn't even advertised. I contacted them and asked when the plane would be in production again and they said it wouldn't, but they had one left. I grabbed it. Part of my Ted Fancher idol collection!

I built a UHP Imitation about 8 years ago. Monokote on wings and stab, rustoleum on fuselage same as Ted's original. Entire airframe covered with carbon veil (though not sure it was really needed) before the Monokote, all Tom Morris controls. LA 46 power was adequate, but a ST51 or similar would be better. This is 630 inches with a thick wing. Used the APC 12.25 x 3.75. Lots of them flying in NorCal, a truly great design.
