Team trials
« on: September 09, 2011, 06:56:04 PM »
We got here around lunchtime today, and after saying high to everybody, I got the P-40 out and started flying. The air was a little "poppy" I guess, so I took out about a 1/4 oz of tail weight. After getting 4 flights before processing, we went over to the pilots meeting, which went smoothly. We checked into the hotel, ate, and went back to get some more flights. Brett gave me Ted's purple handle, and after 3 flights adjusting things, I was in love with the handle!!!! Everything was so much smoother, not springy, and was easier to fly!

Jose Modesto also let me fly his Shark. I have not flown anything better! Orestes said that if I put 20 flights on that airplane, it would be scary to see what I could do.

I am also the only junior in attendance, so I only have to take off to make the team on Sunday (of course I'll still fly the pattern).

Today started off with really thick fog (about 1/8 mile visibility) and really dead air! Eventually it cleared out and wound up being a beautiful sunny day around 75 degrees.

The top 3 right now are Dave, Paul and Orestes. There's a large group really close together behind them. Those 3 and Matt Neumann scored 1200+ flights, which is unheard of in FAI.

I got some coaching flights from Dave and he said I improved dramatically!

We'll see what happens tomorrow

We went back the field tonight and got another 4 flights in. Orestes, josias, bill rich, and a couple others were also there practicing.
