Any CL flying around Tampa / St. Pete?
« on: January 22, 2012, 07:36:02 AM »
My wife and I are talking about relocating next year after our son graduates from HS. Was just wondering if there was any active flyers in the Tampa / St. Pete area.

Nothing is set in stone, we are just talking. Of course there are a lot of factors. Finding jobs and selling our house are two biggies. D>K

The Tampa Bay are has a control line club.  You might want to contact Eric Vigilone or Bill Rich.

Allen is correct. Eric and Bill are part of a pretty big club. From what I hear, the site is amazing.

Paul,
Not necessarily to attempt to discourage you from joining the folks in Florida...but We also have a great CL club (Cholla Choppers) and wonderful flying field (home of VSC) here in Tucson AZ.  We have nice warm weather in the winter, fly all year round and don't have Hurricanes, floods or very many mosquitos.
Housing is very available here and less expensive than in Florida.
Yeah it gets pretty warm in the summer time but we fly early in the morning and it's about 70 to 80 then.

Consider joining us.
PS:  We have a great bunch of folks here and no fewer than three ex National Stunt champs and one ex National Scale Champ...not to mention Vintage Stunt Champs every year a few miles from the front door.

Paul, if you don't mind my using your thread, I would like to ask the gang where else in Florida is there C/L activity. I am thinking about moving to somewhere on the east coast. I am originally from Ft. Lauderdale, but am thinking about something from Jupiter north.

Now you lneed the PAMPA member guide.   It lists all the members of our great country, good ole USA and a few from other countries.  I mentioned moving to Australia or New Zealand to the wife.  She didn't like the idea, even tho I told her its warm down there now. H^^

Hello Paul,

In Stuart Florida just 15 miles north of Jupiter is what your seeking. We fly control line models 6 days of the week at the Halpatiockee County park at 8 in the morning. Sundays we do not fly.  Looks to me like you need to visit us and the other places in Florida you are interested in. Good Luck in your search.

We also have a field with a circle in Markham Park southwest of Ft. Lauderdale and another in Palm Beach County.  I fly at both, or should I say Flew since I went back to work and end up in Northwest Ohio on my weekends.

Hey Paul,

Would be great to have ya! This is a terrific place to retire (or so they tell me, I'm still slugging it out at work) Lots of other fun stuff to distract you while your not flying down here.
We have a great club, reasonable cost of living, low taxes, etc. Any who, I don't think you can go Grouper fishing in those Arazona desert mountain ranges...heh heh.

All kidding aside, if you decide to make a trip to scope out the area, let me know and I'll shuttle you to the field on the weekend to check out our digs and fly with the gang (loaner plane included!)

Thanks for the invite Eric. I just might take you up on the offer.
I sure hope we can make it down that way. Not sure I can retire.... I will still need to make enough money to support my bad habit.

I am based at the Markham Park site in Sunrise Florida.  Small group, single circle, but first class.

I think  found your circle.   At least the map says its Markham Park.   Looks like circle is south of the radio control strip. H^^
