Tank for Ringmaster?
« on: February 25, 2025, 11:26:34 PM »
Need a tank for a ringmaster with LA25. Everything I have is too big.

Distance between engine and LE is 3". I need 3.5 oz at least and everything I find is too long.

What should I be looking for?

How long lines should I run?

Thank you

You do not need 3.5OZ for the 25LA.. IT is not a 4-2-4 motor that you hand a 10-6 prop on anyway.  Fit it with a 9-4 APC, launch in a wet 2 cycle and enjoy more power that any Ringmaster needs.   On tanks, get a 2.5oz uniflow from Brodak.  The dimensions of all the styles are on the website.   My Shoestring (just about identical to the Ringmaster size wise) can fly the pattern wonderfully with a 20FP, and needs less than 2oz doing it

I use a 2.5 oz oval profile uniflow tank from Brodak. The oval profile series from Brodak is the shortest of the tanks they sell. The only issue (for me) is that the stock fuel pickup is on the top of the tank. Not sure why they put it there as this location is not great for a typical profile model.

But, on a custom order, I had Brodak relocate the fuel pickup to the bottom of the tank (facing forward) where it belongs for a profile model.

Here is an example on a Skyray 35 with OS 25 LA (front NVA setup). The Skyray also has a short nose. Fuel pickup on the tank is a straight shot to the spray bar.

Find out what Joie Gilbert uses and duplicate that.

You could put a plastic tank on the inboard side. Run brass tubes through the fuse. Rig it Uniflow.

That would be my recommendation.  Joe does very well with his set up.  Very hard to beat that.

Search on the forums here for the drawing of the tank that Fred Krueger published years ago of a tank that he designed that works quite well and can ne modified in any dimension to fit where you need it and for capacity. It was originally for a team race type application but as a chicken hopper style it works well for stunt. Just plumb the tubing to suit what you want. And I agree, you will need 3.5 ounces in some cases. That's what I usually use in my RM with an LA .25 with stock venturis. I can't find my scan of the drawing for the tank but will keep looking.
  Type at you later,

OK, found it. PM me an email address and I can send it to you if I can't attach it here.
