« on: February 12, 2009, 02:23:51 PM »
:!  Hey guy's I have one of the UHP Nobler component models, and I am looking for suggestions on a way to mount the tank that will hold it in place, but at the same time lit mr take it out for adjustments.
I saw where Don Ogren had used velcro on his Cardinal full fuse model and I'm looking for a simular set up...
  Who has some suggestions ???
                 Thanks in advance, Gil    #^

Gil,
I am using a RSM GRW500WU(http://www.rsmdistribution.com/index-2.htm) tank. I CA glued in a 1/32 plywood web 1/4 inch below the tank
and stuff in some 1/4 inch R/C foam (closed cell) between the tank and the web.Make the web just long enough so the tube coming out the tank doesn't hit the web.I also glued a 1/4 x 1/4 piece of balsa at the back of the web for the tank to slide under. This works very well and the foam isolates the tank from vibration somewhat. We have 20 flights on it now and it is really flying well. I'm using a B-40 with the stock .300 venturi,Thunder Tiger 11x4.5 prop, stock muffler ,aluminum spinner and 15 /22 fuel.We checked the launch RPM today and it was about 9750 to 9800 and 4.9 to 5.1 sec. per lap on 60 ft. lines. This thing pulls like a truck and is good in the wind.Should work well at VSC if I learn to fly it. ~^ #^

sticky back velcro  (i think you guys call it hook & loop)  stick one strip to the tank bay, one strip to the tank - when you push them together it sticks (and wont move) and is easliy removed

I take it you mount the velcro on the sidewall of the fuse and the other to the tank's side? I can see how that would leave room for vertical adjustments...
