You should have some fun adventures down there.  I've heard some stories about the field in Tampa...  they have these spiders called Grove spiders that make a web that can catch a stunter right out of the air, I heard flying was delayed one day when a 15 foot python decided to take a nap on the circle, and they have these feral pigs that allegedly savaged some RC flyers, root up the field every night, and have to be controlled by local rednecks that come to the field at night with night optics and crew served weapons to mow down the 500 pound beasts!

I have an old Air Force buddy living in Ocala, FL.  Although he doesn't fly, he reports on the model activity down there.  Almost as much as here in the NW!  Notwithstanding the bug problem Ocala seems like a great place to be.

My wife is from Ocala, it is a nice town.  However, seeing the size of the spider on the back deck of her parents house encouraged me to not want to ever actually live down there...

Oh Venice? Wow, you'll be right near Mr Shaw's deluxe flying circle...

I wouldn't worry too much about the spiders at our circle in Ellenton, its the mosquito's that will carry you away the second the sun goes beyond the horizon!  :o The rattle snakes and cotton mouths are friendly enough, just shuffle your feet and you will be fine as that seems to scare them off.

Hey Steve, the last wild boar they bagged was only 300+ pounds, amazing how stories grow out of control. Rich, if you are overly concerned, just wear chaps and carry a .45 semi auto on your hip for quick easy access in case you get cornered by a big tusker. Oh, almost forgot about the fire ants, yeah, I'd wear some real shoes, no hippie sandals. If you are prone to anaphylaxis, better have an Epipen handy. That should about cover it.

Welcome to our little hunk of paradise!  ;D

I think thats one monster they don't have at the field.  I think the gators are busy lying about golf courses...

We do have bugs and other critters here in Florida. One thing we don't have is SNOW. Although I did see a flurry or two this year.

I'm not afraid!

At the GSCB field last year we saw Canadian Geese (these are awful! a plan to shoot them and feed the poor failed because their meet is toxic)...a fox...many deer.....carp! (the field floods pretty bad in the spring)....a few hawks......and a BLACK BEAR!!! (not a little critter...maybe 300#!)...
Plus the usual bugs....

The site in Venice does indeed have a control line circle that Bob Shaw sponsored.......but the current President there seemed mortified at the thought of me wandering out and actually flying control line!....

I will explore the sire in Bradenton....

Have fun!

All I worry about now that I think of it, is the deer and rabbits at the Northern Knights field.  Have seen a night hawk a couple of times. H^^

Hi Ward...
She handed in her retirement and finishes school at the end of June....
We have to sell the place here.......we plan on a leisurely pace, as I have several big projects brewing....I want her to spend some time in Fla before I quit....if she wants to be elsewhere, so be it...
Bottom line...a year or so....
I am planning on driving a car down the 21st...I'll spend a couple days and then jet back to Newark...

Have fun
