I had the same thing happen to me a while back.  Was able to repair it with a piece of pvc pipe by using the PVC as a sleeve over the broken part.  My flag pole is not potted in concrete but sits in a sleeve buried in the ground.  Was an easy fix.  I now keep a track of wind on the Aviation Weather Report:   http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KHSV&state=AL   You can set it for most any city.

You sure that was wind? I see no debris, no leaves, no branches, nothing st all to indicate a wind storm anywhere near strong enough to do that. Looks to me more like some jackass didn't like your flag and engaged in nefarious activity.

Gary might have a point here. I'd be doing some research for reports of a "micro-burst" or such in the area. If no micro-burst" reports are found, file a police report, claiming a "Hate Crime". Yeah, I think I'd do that! Get the FIB (sic) involved straight away. That "MAGA" sign in the yard may have triggered somebody's PTSD and made them lash out, so it's all Bob's fault. Look for fragments of vagina costumes, unicorn hoofprints, and other silly BS. y1 Steve

Hi, Gary - interesting comment. However, I live in a private airpark and everyone is quite conservative and flys a flag.
Also, someone would have to be quite tall to gain enough leverage to bend it as shown.
Finally, everyone in the airpark knows that I am armed and what would happen to them if they messed with my flag.

Motorman - you're correct. The pole is extruded aluminum with a wall thickness of .043.

Regarding previous storms - when my anemometer was working (battery needs replacing), I measured wind gust of up to 52 MPH and the flag stood tall. This time, not only was the flagpole bent/collapsed, but two 70 pound planters were blown over.

Matt - good point. The other day, a Piper J-3 came by at Mach 1.2.

Steve - TOP NOTCH response! Yes, I have a MAGA sign as well as a MAGA hat. We have seen a few crazy liberals riding around on their unicorns and wearing vagina hats. They were carrying "Not my President" signs so it must be Trump's fault! One liberal got off his unicorn and bent over to pick something up. The unicorn had other ideas - the rider got the point.

Waiting for the next BLOW!

Bob Z.

Just for reference here is what a micro burst did to our tree June 9th.  This was 15min after it happened and those 6" limbs were snapped, not cut.  You were not hit by a micro burst.  It was a micro brain that hit your neighborhood.

Hi, Roger - what tracks?
Those across the taxiway are from mowing.

Chris - I'm not sure where 129 MPH came from but 129 mph = Mach 0.168129, not Mach .049.

Thanks, Mike.
Yep, the wind - NOTHING MORE.
No irate neighbors, no aliens, no Mach plus shockwave.
We had around five trees down in our neighborhood.

Found this online today...no, wasn't looking for it! But there may be a correlation. Or not. Were there any wild parties going on in your 'hood that night?  #^ Steve
