The article in the latest stunt news about the take a part vector caught my eye. Got some questions to the man that came up with this idea.
I looked in PAMPA for an e mail address for Sean Chaung but didn't find it listed, if some one can tell me how to contact him I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Gil

I would err on the side of caution looking at his take apart feature- whilst it looks like it would work - it has some pretty big flaws in design....if you read the article - he says it nearly failed until he TAPED the wings on :o

Sean is a member of the Cholla Choppers MAC here in Tucson. He does have e-mail but I don't have it with me here at work.
Sean is a very clever fellow and an engineer by trade.
I fly with him regularly, and while the take apart system he invented had some teething problems they have been solved and it works very well.
I definitely would not support the notion that there are "serious design flaws" in the system. It is a different approach and can be made without a lot of special machined parts. Everything in is is pretty much available off the shelf, which is what makes it attractive. It's also very inexpensive.
The tape is not a structural member merely a sealing medium.

One thing that some might not realize...just because it can be taken apart, don't get the idea that it's assembled every day at the field and taken apart again after the flying is done. It could be done, but it typically is NOT, except for special circumstances...like it won't fit in your rental car in Europe. Even then, perhaps just one wing half would be removed, if that would make it fit. H^^ Steve

yeah, that's exactly how I get the Saturn and the Score (both takeaparts) to the field with my 4dr Acura 1.6EL (econo car).. But "if" I use my other bigger car, I don't have to remove anything. :)

Gil,
Try the following for Sean's e-mail. Note that I have changed the format to prevent spammers from picking it up:
