Please elaborate if you would John.  I am interested to hear what "wow" means.

Right now, I am using the PA 65 RE with no pipe and I really love it.

This is all Valspar basecoat.  Will be cleared tomorrow with Valspar clear.

Brad, Your choice of power is a proven package. The WOW for the big Stalkers is for the excellent machine work, casting, and finally the way they run. These are pure 4-2-4 breaking engines. They seem to be designed to limit the top reving to about 8K or so. Norm Whittle just purchased the .76 from Kaz and had it at the field doing some running in recently. Ready starts, usually one backflip were the norms from the beginning. Kaz reports that he's very pleased with his.

I have a Stalker .81 that I plan to use soon. It will turn a 13 to 14 inch prop with a 6 inch pitch handily. I'm sure larger props could be used, but I haven't tried that yet. Even with a 12 inch 6 pitch prop, The engine wouldn't rev past 7800. I've been told by another who runs one, that it maxs out at about the same rpm with a 14x6. It seems to be a long stroking stump puller.

Time will tell, but I've been pleased with all my Stalkers so far.

The new T-Rex Prototype just arrived.

First off, it lost 9 OZ!!!!!

9 OZ!!!!!

All up it is 33 oz!!!  That is covered!!!  The first one was closer to 42-43 OZ at the same stage!!!

Covered wing half.  5.7 oz!!  The total wing and flap with all hardware is 15.5 oz covered.

Stab and elevator (2 inches more span than the original).

Fuselage complete with cowl.

The original glass cowl has been eliminated and a perfect wood version has replaced it.  Perfect fit.  Much better.

The ARC will be sold as shown.

The ARF will be covered in ULTRACOTE (yayyyyyy!!!).  I am very happy about the Ultracote.

There are no plans for a "box of parts" kit.  Yet.

Hey Brad:
I'm on board, where do I sign up ?
The ARC will have SLC as per the CLW article, right ?
Looks like you really opened up the rib spacing on this 2nd proto.
No concerns about torsional rigidity or covering sag ?
I have a couple of new engines looking for a good home.

An ARC with Covering on it is a ARF.

Almost Ready to Cover Means just that. Not ARP almost ready to paint.

Edit: I almost forgot good looking plane.

Except in this case because the "covering" is SLC which I'm pretty sure Brad only intended as base, not a ready to fly finish.  That's the impression I get from the article in CLW.

The ARC as described is ready for covering.  I have always advocated that the airplane should be covered in a traditional silkspan covering.  The mylar is meant to be a base for covering.  I do not suggest painting the film directly.

I am sure that if someone wanted a bare plane one of the girls could rip off the mylar before they shipped it...  That way it will arrive from the factory sans any "covering".

Of course, fully covered molded planes have won the Nats already, but that is molded right?  These cannot be an an ARF in any form as long as it has no "covering".   These can even be fully FINSHED in the mold but not "covered".  Stupid, stupid, rule...

(Insert obligatory endless arguing of the semantics of the BOM here... barf).

Hey Allen,

The wing is very strong.  Plenty strong.
So far the idea was to have the ARC covered with SLC film as a base for the traditional finish.

Call John and tell him you are interested.  That may help speed the delivery as there are several releases scheduled.

You could email.  In fact, that would be great.

Brodak.  Should be comparable to the rest of Brodak's full sized ARC/ARF kits.

There will be a slight cost difference for the ARF, as all of the T-Rex's will be covered in real Ultracote.  Yay!!!!
