Here are three shots, (hopefully...) of the new shop layout. I recently got the big tool box, (Christmas... I was good boy...), It's AWESOME!!!! it has all my engines, painting equipment, props, spinners, handles, lines, gauges, etc, all in a lockable 330 lb box!! The big stack of wood over the tool box is three rows deep and about two feet high, plus some under on shelf just under that. The main table has a used top over the fresh and perfectly flat building Jig. There's a bench tattoo on the main surface that says "good enough doesn't exist here". Keeps me trying to do better. The little 1/2a's are for decoration, the stack of FS's are racers/trainers.
I'm very excited with this iteration of the shop. The next step is finishing the walls and wiring etc. The wood will be slotted into a special cabinet with divided sections for each size. It will mount high and over the work surface that will run over the top of the tool box. The wood cabinet will have lighting under it for the top of the work surface. A similar cabinet will reside opposite it at the other end of the work surface and it will hold plans. I have two 2 foot x 4 foot lower cabinets that will support the work surface at either side of the tool box.
Where the wood is now will be storage for work in progress. So the wings and fuse can be outta the way when other projects, (ski tuning, little boy toy fixing,.... ) takes place.
The real exciting part is there will be a storage room built for finished models at one end of the shop. Currently I have 7 PA ships and several classic sized models. All will fit in the proposed room and will be visible from the outside through glass doors. At least that's the plan so far.
That's the news!
