all painted and ready for the final clear, I did it in clear dope with orange and a hint of black

You made it look like something,Walter. Excellent paint scheme. But I guess that " buikd it right" motto of yours leaves no choice.

Very nice. The Grogan brothers prototype Sweet Sweeps were covered in white silkspan and had a red dope flame around the front end. They have been painted/not painted many ways of course.
