Title: Swap Meets
Post by: peabody on November 23, 2018, 06:51:29 AM
Two Swap Meets this weekend that appeal to control line fliers:

November 24th (Saturday) @ the MCRC field in Ellenton. A lot of fun, the site is great and the field will be open to flying, including the great CL circle. Good food, plenty of electric!

November 25th, the GSCB Swap Meet at the Wayne Firehall. This Swap Meet has been going on this date for over 30 years and the Firehall is a perfect venue. Ron "the Deli Guy" will offer a full kitchen as well.

Gates open for both events at 8:00 am

Lots of fun and some great bargains!

My car is packed and I'll be heading over to Wayne tomorrow.  6 hour drive for me, but well worth it.  The real fun is is getting to BS with the guys like Larry Scarinzi, Frank Imbriacco, Dan Banjock, and the other Circle Burners and Philly Fliers and the guys up from Virginia.  EBay and forums are OK, but can't compare to face to face.

I am really bummed I missed it, caught some kind of upper respiratory infection / pneumonia a month ago, thought it was gone and it came back. I usually work the kitchen with Vinnie & Ron, but it was not to be. I had a caughing fit the other day and tore a muscle / connective tissue off of a rib, and possibly cracked a rib , now when I cough it feels like I'm getting an ice pick in the side. But I agree the company is why I go and why I joined the circle burners, the flying is fun too! TJ

I think I'll borrow the kid the next time I'm trying to strike a deal at a car dealership.

Swap meets are great to find some good deals until people recognize who you are.  I used to get Fox engines at ridiculous prices as well as some other stuff.  Now I head for a table with engines and the gentleman started picking up the Fox engines and putting them in a box.   I do have a McCoy Redhead .60 that is set up with the early Bill Johnson throttle system for pressure I got for $5.00.  I even knew who the original owner is/was.  Last spring finally made it to the KCRC swap meet and picked up a brand new Dremel cordless rotary tool in its case and all the accessories for $20.00.  It has gotten a work out.  Now the only way I find out about swap meets is either the local Hobby Haven or somebody from out of town and the individual from the KCRC club.
