Swap meet
« on: January 25, 2019, 09:22:20 PM »
Off to the swap meet over in Monroe tomorrow. Was supposed to be a overnight deal with the family, but it's changed into a solo day trip.   Nothing to it, only 300 miles, each way.....  lol.   Actually I really enjoy these long drives alone. It's recharge time. Amazingly I was even able to talk my wife out of the new Subaru for the day.

Got a few kits I'm taking, and a couple engines. Will see if there is any interest. Ought to be a good day either way.

At 11 to 12 hours of just driving, and maybe 3 hours at the swap meet it sounds like a very long and tiring trip to me!  You must be a lot younger than ME!

Sounds grueling!

Good luck!

Well I made the trip just fine. Took me 13 hrs start to finish. Leaving Wenatchee I told myself that I would hit Monroe at 11:15. I'm not making this up, I hit the Monroe city limits sign at 11:14:49!!!!  I do this all the time. Usually not that close, but almost always less than 5 min off. I don't reall calculate anything , at least not consciously, but somehow it works. 540 miles on the ODO today.

Turnout was low, as far as vendors went. I'd say down 30% from last year. Engine prices were incredible!  I bought a nice 25FP for $20, and could have had another and a 25LA for the same price each if I'd wanted. 3 different 40FP's and 2 40LA's for $35-40 each.

Gary,

We used to go every year when the Model Expo was held in Puyallup. Went to Monroe one time before moving to Oregon 15 years ago, and the Exop had already downsized. Sorry to hear that the Expo is still in decline.

With all the new (Future of AMA) drone members I thought surely the AMA would grow again, or at least hold it's own. Looks like Misguided  Dreamers aren't restricted to the AMA leadership alone!  ;D
