Title: Survivor C/L --- Engine Poll

OK you are stranded on an deserted inland. You have a choice to take only one NIB engine. Once on the inland you will have access to enough balsa to build one profile plane. Fuel and lines, and other stuff  will be won in a challenge. The challenge is to swim out to a flag located 50 yards off shore and diving under water 15ft to pick up a handle of your choice off the bottom. (Of course the waters are shark infested.)
You would not let a few sharks keep you from flying?

OS LA ( no FP)

Double Star

Brodak

For those who have never watched Survivor on TV.

If you could only pick one engine from this list above what engine would you pick and why?

Assuming an endless supply of Superfuel, a Fox 35 would be the obvious choice.  The LA would last forever, but it lacks character.  In the middle of nowhere you wouldn't need a muffler, so the Fox roaring and burping through the fun flying would keep things interesting.  Wear isn't too much of a concern since food would run out long before the Fox was even broke-in. 

A Flite Streak with stretched moments, a Fox 35, 4oz tin uniflow tank, 57' lines, and a EZ Just Hot Rock...  Can't imagine anything else coming close for leisurely fun.

I'd take the Fox 15 so I could I would be challenged during my stay. I would put it a Shark 15 cause I like it.

The sharks are fine.  I thought the job and the yard kept me from flying.

Do we get to vote anyone off???

Hi Guys,
Since I can't take a ST46, a LA25 will do nicely.

I hope it is a Pacific Island! Say close to the Marshalls or Maybe Wake, Wilkes or Peal!

LA for sure....easy to use...goes every time with one flip start.......and foxes are poo...and seeign as you said new in box...only the LA will fly STRAIGHT out of the box....the others would need to be run in too long

Give me a Brodak 40 for sure.  Very dependable.  If your out, nothing beats a Fox Stunt 35 broken in properly.  DOC Holliday

I'd take the Brodak .40. I've had lots of experience with them and have come to really like them.
I would probably wait till the sharks were full before I went diving for the handle.

Since it has to be a profile. I'll pass on the Fox. Since I hurt my shoulder, the .15 hurl is out. That leaves the LA or the Brodak. No experience with the Brodak,(yet, I do have one of the new batch on the way to play with) so I guess I'm for the LA.

LA25.  Starts and runs every time and uses half the fuel of the larger engines.  Don't want to face those sharks too often.

I've only flown Fox 35s, K&B Greenhead Torps and OS FPs.  That being said, I'd pick an LA 40 or LA 46.  I hear time and time again that they run great out of the box.  Although not a replacement for SuperTigre, a review in StuntNews a couple of years ago says the LA 46 is one of the best, low cost production engines available today.

I'll grab a Tom Morris handle also.

Put some of those sharks on land with me and they don't look so scary. >:D

  Paul,
  I have been on several deserted islands and have looked down into the jaws of at least one shark that was intent on liberating my hand from my arm.  I think I will do what I have always done and paddle my dinghy out to the sail boat and sail away.  When the vacation is over I will think about model airplanes.
  Its a no brainer, take the Yamaha outboard.

Take the handle, attach a line to it, attach a flotation device to the line, pulle the handle up and disconnect line and go fly.
I'm not diving in that water, you don't know whats been dumped in it do you.
