Survey on PA side exhaust 61 or 65 run
« on: December 08, 2017, 05:36:59 PM »
Hi All   I have many people ask about large  PA  61 or  65 side exhaust motors, so I am  trying to find  how many would be interested in buying these, they would be as the PA 75s were done , and would be  prepaid

Regards
Randy

65 any possibility of a 65 re run in the future
Thanks Tom Weedman

Hi Tom   Yes  there  is, however when those are  offered, it will most likley be based on the  75 Merlin case, and can be a  65 to 69
I would need  to get at least 50 orders for those
Right now  with us  having  100s and  100s  of big 60 size  ARFs  and  ARCs in stock, and me  also expanding  my LASER cut  SV  kit  line, I have had  many people ask about  side  ex  PA engines in 61 or 65, Most likely  if the run is done  it will be  65s

Regards
Randy

Hi Allan

NO there  is  no such thing as a  side exhaust Merlin, all the  Merlin engines are rear  ex.  such as the  PA 40 Ultra ite  and  PA  75

Not that I need another freaking engine...(I have two cabinets full now) but I think the PA65 RE and a rear exhaust type of muffler on the order of the Stalker engines would be the best idea.  These could be used in any kind of installation and personally (and I don't think I'm the only one) I believe the PA65RE to be the best running and simplest turnkey stunt engine ever produced by anyone...Rear or side exhaust!  I just can't imagine not using those if they were available!

Randy, you know better than anyone that the 65 is probably the most successful stunt engine since the Game began!
The reason is that they are easy to use, either on a pipe or rear exhaust muffler, and don't need to be fed 7.5 oz. of fuel to be competitive with anything.  All that and the installation is cleaner with less weight forward.

That's my considered opinion, and it makes most sense!   y1 y1 y1

Obviously, I would be interested in a PA65RE...Oh yeah and a light rear exhaust muffler like the stalker!  In fact Stalker even makes one that bolts right on to the Merlin case!   #^ #^ #^

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think you guys are gonna get side exhaust or rear exhaust because, the part of the run that gets farmed out is the casting.

When I think side exhaust I think of a profile fuselage or upright engine but I don't think that's practical for this size. With an inverted engine you're looking at the muffler in flight, it's drag and weight inboard and farther forward. Don't you have to take the muffler on and off to get the cowl off IDK. I think you get more oil on the plane with side exhaust. With rear exhaust you have the muffler/pipe option and did someone say it's lighter with the Merlin case? Seems like the rear exhaust is a no brainer. Can you drop a 75 sleeve in the 65RE? What's the thinking on a big side exhaust engine, do the ARF's have a pipe tunnel or room for a rear muffler?

MM

Yes you are wrong, side or  rear has  nothing to do with having a  foundry cast cases, They will cast whatever  I pay for, and  the run will be most likely  either  side  or  rear  exhaust,  with the possibility  of  doing a  main run of  rear exhaust and having then add  some  side  exhaust  to it,  but   not the other  way around.
On the  75 P/S  no  it will not fit into the  older  case  , either  side or rear

The  75 Merlin case is  not lighter than the 65 case, but it is a designed for  CL stunt case, and is a better case, even though they both are  excellent.

Well that's good, guys can get whichever exhaust they want.

MM

We will,  I need to find out what  people  want, and the demand for  the  PAs  first  before  the decision is made on what to run, or to run them at all

Late to the party here but I'd prefer a 61SE (but a 65 would not be a deal breaker). 8)
