I haven't got a whole lot done this last week but I did manage to get the wingtips on and the center section of the wing buttoned up. I just had to do a quick mockup to see how she was coming along. Weight will be more than I had hoped but still should be ok. It'll probably come in 45ish.
I can't say I really like my fin. I might see if I can come up with something a little different. Maybe.

Hello Ty,
The fuselage has carbon built in. The aft portion of the fuselage is a truss structure. The top and bottom long-runs were made by sandwiching a .007 x 1/2 in carbon strip between two 3/16 balsa strips.
The two Cardinals I had were very flimsy in the rear so when I decided to build these I wanted to at least cut some of that down. After laminating the fuselage with the 1/64 ply I was very pleased with the result. The fuselages are very, very rigid. I saw the picture you posted showing the fuselage twist you are experiencing. I'm going to try and get a shot of mine like that and see if I really did manage to all but eliminate the twisting.
The wing is built nothing like the original Tutor. It is stretched like Jim Armour did his but the structure is more like a Trivial Pursuit wing. It is very rigid also. I am going to try and knock off a couple ounces on the second wing. As strong as this wing is I believe I can lighten it up here and there and not compromise any strength.

Very nice job, Clay, but I am pretty disappointed in that work bench. Where is all the crap and clutter like mine has?

Oh Keith,,,you should have seen it yesterday. It was so bad I couldn't stand it any more so I spent the day cleaning the shop. I found a whole bunch of stuff I was missing. ;D

Looking at the pictures the plane looks great to this point in time. As far as the rudder/fin it fits the airplane. But, what do I know, my Shameless was down graded on a second round flight far enough to knock me from first place to a fourth place. I was being congradulated by everyone when I landed. When they seen my score they couldn't beleive it. Now I fly for fun even after Adv in Iowa this past year. DOC Holliday

Thanks for the kudos Doc. I think I'll just stick with the Fin/Rudder I have. I can't come up with anything better to make me want to build them over again. :D
I feel your pain about the scoring. Back before normalizing and contestant judging in R/C pattern that happened far too often. In 1985 I was flying advanced and I went from 2nd to 6th in the last two flights of the contest. It was obvious to me and many others what was going on after watching the other flights and seeing who got the trophies in the end.
