Is a Super Tigre C35 a stunt engine - if not, can it be used as one.
-
I have one too but from what I heard they are too fast to stunt with. More of a Combat engine.

There are 2 versions of that engines that look identical from the outside. The combat model has a flat baffelless piston, the stunt has a baffeled piston. They both have the C on the case.

Hi all.
It your piston has the baffle, you have an excellent engine to any classic proyect.
I have run them and are delightful!!

There is a third version of the C-35 that was sold in the early 1980's. It was a C-35 PDP (Perry Directional Porting) similar to Schnural porting. This engine is easy to identify if the muffler is removed, you can see the three intake ports in the sleeve. They have plain bearings and are not screamers. I have been flying two of them for over twenty years and have never had any problem using them in scale with the factory throttles. They will turn a 10 x 6 EW at over 11000 open exhaust.

I always classed this one as a varient of the combat version. I know they made an R/C version using the same case.

I have put the stunt venturi in the (early) combat version and gotten a pretty good run for stunt with 2 extra head shims. Tommy Luper used to fly a profile with one, too. They didn't *seem* to be as highly timed as the later ST Combat 35s.
I would stick an PAC 10 1/2 X 4 1/2 on it, 5% nitro 25% castor fuel and go.

some of this already been said by others
stunt and slow combat(bushing)= C
r/c and combat (b.b.)=g21
this is what i remember from 60s/70s
the s.t. original bushing .35 case was stunt engine--with baffel piston and small ports
the same engine with the ball bearing engine piston and sleve was marked combat on box-should of said slow combat on box.this was done for no b.b. engine rule in slow combat.
the b.b. engine was originaly r/c--i think
the bushing engines alwas seemd to run hot with the b.b. piston and sleve and didnt seem to make the power they should---only competion engine i had trouble with hot restarts.
i thought i remembered a pdp version but looking at my engines i cant find one.
4 ports--the std 2 with one pdp front and one rear near exaust port(on b.b. sleve)
dont think stunt version was ever pdped
i have 6 0r so combat(b.b.) used and 2 new--no pdp
and 3or4 new bushing combat and 1 used
and one stunt and a box of used b.b. type piston and sleves and cant find any that are pdp! i remember havin atleast one(last one?)
the last of the b.b. engines (that i saw)were set up at factory with longer exaust duration and squish band head and beefed case (rib on bottom of case)and no center divider in exaust port on case. this last engine(of my era)was later pdped during the time fox came out with 6 bolt backplate engine.i would crack even the ribed case in about 10 runs!
i later heard that s.t. came out with schnurel combat engine but i never saw one
havent checked shaft timing on b.b. engine and compared to stunt engine but have thought of putting stunt piston &sleve in b.b. case
thats all i rember now!

1st, thanks for responding. i'm not sure what pdp is. my engine is a plain bearing baffled engine with one intake port and one exhaust port in like new condition. my intention is to put it in a Oriental.

Hi Tim,
If yours is a baffle piston, then you will have no problems. That was the stunt version. The flat top piston was supposed to be for combat.
pdp stands for Perry Directional Porting where a couple slots/holes were cut in the liner to add to the direction of the intake charge flow.
