Title: Super Tigre variants
Post by: Angelo Smyth on May 17, 2019, 12:53:55 PM
What is the difference (if any) between the Super Tigre "G" .51 vs. a CoMo .51? I've seen the G used in stunt, but don't recall seeing the CoMo.

GRRRGGHHHH ,

This is the silly Como 51 Schneurle Stunt . I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT . Test in Sceptreflight . But not ' Air Test ' .

THESE ; Ringed Baffle piston p.d.p. & 40 abc ditto ,

HOWEVER are the COMO 51 , 40 & 40 abc ( stamped on lug ) .

The lugs are a bit wide , however - there are such things as files & masking tape .
Though DONT if youre dropping them in a ST 60 Hole ,
Use a rat tail or drill  , & match the ST 60 Pattern , tho the nose will be shorter .  :P

The 51 ( My ) seem to like a 4 inch pitch - for a locked in run .  ST 51 Venturie . so Far .
Reasonable sort of run , break ( 2-4 ) & power . Comparable to a G-51 .

Swing a clean / thinned 12 x 4 o.k. Id think , as a dual 11 x 4 4-blade has been run , amougst other things .

The 40 Brickhaus used was .265 Venturie ,

Theyre G 51 / V 60 weight , Not .46 Wt.

Just thinking ' Hemi ' ing the head , to soften the run , as per ST baffle jobs , on the full case baffle jobs , might be o.k.
Tho general consensus on the Matching ST 60 PDP  is leave it stock .
Maybe thin / radius center of baffle - both sides - for piston dimensional stability . or two grooves Ea Side .  :P

They're generally similar to the second last ST 60 series . 4 window , pdp . but racier timed . Last ST 60 was 3 window PDP
But with Concave Head Fins - matching the Como .
Many shave ST 60 ( & 46 ) fins to 3/32 " , to remove ' The Stumble " so they say . So Again , may suit .

Right , well Then . Theyre Heavy , Powerfull , and I know Kuthing about the schneurle on the pages above . And dont know if anyone does .
They mayve made only one batch , that didnt work ? . But the N V A & INTAKE look usefull . VD~ Match the 51 % 60 intake bore etc .

G 51s I believe work best flying a bit of aeroplane at a few revs .
3/4 turn on needle from full 4 stroke to full 2 stroke .
Set by going into full 2 stroke then back 1/4 turn to ' into the switch ' , even . For Starters . Como Similar .

Just for luck we'll put a G-51 Picture On . CARVE the Lug where the G-51 is back , with aforesaid FILE .
Wet and dry on a stick , and back so the G 51 is curved & polished , looks cool & screwdriver the lug bolts is aligneable . :P

Whittling back till the ' 51 ' is just proud , is what youre after . One sold recently with front of head fins reduced , for cowling .

The COMO 51 with the baffle piston  was /is an excellent stunt engine, It is very close to the power of a ST V 60, and  runs a perfect classic  4/2
I used several of them, 1 was in a Magnum, the engine would pull a SV11 pretty easy
They weight is lighter than the ST 60, near same as e new G51

Very Good .

A bit irrelevant , but some pictures of skulduggery ,

One side , and the other side , incognito . on the 51 .

( holes were already oversize , Spray bar are ' V 'eed  / countersunk .
for brass eyelets for seals . Must get some .  :-X . V.I. is for " 51 " Being Roman ,
which is in Italy , and we all know where its made , and by who . )

The muffler that comes with them , tailpipe removed , works o.k. ,
Can shave all the fins off , glue in tailcone to dispose of those lugs , etc.
But it will resonate / echo with the pulses . Sounds metalic & exotic ,
but presumeably louder . Gets down to 1 1/4 Ounce tho .

Internal bits , of the 40 . The lugs narrowed .
same width as G 51 - for fitting in nose for G 51 , as bolt pattern matches .
Exhaust stack shortened ,
so as to keep you on freindly relations with the screwdriver whilst mounting .

Likewise the G-51 . The bit where the casting said ' sport ' when a 49 , is obstructive , so we got all artistic .
Securely tape the ports etc etc if youre not doing it dissasembled .
