This is not meant to take the place of OTS, it would be a second event using the 1952 pattern. Basically, fly what you have any design airplane, no restrictions. Most of our contests down in the southeast are two day events and the distance is a fairly good drive for most. If OTS is what you fly, some feel that a 4 hour drive for two flights may not be worth the effort. Having a second event that they could fly either the same ship or another ship maybe of their own design or a modified design (like an All American with equal panels or longer tail moment) that you like.
If you compare this to the modern pattern side there are now five events (PA, Classic, N30, Profile, 25) that could be run at any given event. If OTS is what you prefer you only have one and you have to use a ship for pre 1953. Having a second event for the 52 pattern might get a few more people to come out. Worth a try.
