Check FB page for Philly Flyers - the Place for Control Line Flying in Philadelphia. Lots of Pictures. We flew Old Time and Profile at Neshaminy State Park on Saturday. Challenging breezes. Excellent flights considering conditions. A single Ringmaster doink. Fixed and up flying again in ten minutes. Food and raffles. Sunday at Benjamin Rush State Park. PAMPA classes. Beautifully prepared field a cooperative dual club effort. Northeast Philadelphia Radio Control Club double mowed their take-off runway. Excellent grass surface. Straight air, away from trees. Raffles. Food cooked by NERCC. Wonderful hosts.

Really enjoyed your contest on Sunday.  Very well run and great location.

Chip Chernoff, Richard Martinez and Steve Dinnerman, the CDs, will post a report at end of week.

I find that hard to believe. If they said anything like that they were joking since you may have put in the best flight until that point. You came in second if I remember correctly. Danny and Mike are scrupulously honest in their scoring. I can attest to that since my good friends often put me near the bottom. And will articulate move by move exactly why. Like I said, I don't know what was said have no idea what was said to you. Your second place finish against a number of Advanced fliers some of whom I saw doing their stuff at the NATS is an accomplishment. Too bad if you don't appreciate it.

To answer your question, Motorman flew the best pattern he's ever flown with the best stunt ship he's ever built. I was really happy with the flight that I put out my best effort. Coming off the field the judges were laughing at me and said my plane flew like it had a broken wing. What am I supposed to think about that?

MM

Dan suggested your wing was flexing. He did not mention the airplanes flight characteristics.

If we were laughing it wasn't because of your flight. You beat 2/3rds of the entries.

Mike

I doubt you will find more qualified judges doing Advanced at a local contest. For the last three years Dan has judged Open at the NATS. Last year he was chosen to judge top five. Mike just finished eleventh in Open on the L Pad. Not bad at all when you look at the names of the ten who placed ahead.

It was a great contest with a wonderful turnout. Thanks for hosting! At times the wind kicked up and for the first time I saw profile tails, etc. flexing significantly. It was interesting! The venue was great as was the food! Put this one on your bucket list.

Raffle prizes were awesome too! The Philly guys are always welcoming and just a fun bunch!

Thanks again,
Tom

Just to clarify Walt came in third.
Just to clarify, Walt placed third in Advanced. There were 10 enteries. Pretty good i'd say.

It's not you.  Those people are always laughing.  They're like Click and Clack.

That you need to go back, build better, trim better,  learn to set up engines better, and/or practice more, so the next time you will fly better, and it won't be like that.

After about 40 years of this event, I am pretty sure you are jumping to conclusions, and taking offense at something you probably imagined,  but even if your interpretation of events is 100% correct, the solution is the same. Stunt is a performance, you put yourself out there to be judged, ask people to stand in the sun and do it all afternoon, and then give their opinion.

Even if it is less than charitable, take it, move on, and make it harder for them to do it the next time.

Stunt is an extremely difficult event and no one ever masters it. There will be many days like this in the future. If you don't learn to cope with it, you will have a pretty rough go. What you don't want to do is fall into "all those guys are against me" attitude because that is a self-defeating loop.

Nice statement Brett. Stunt can often be humbling. No matter the level where your skills slot.
