Watch out for that kid as he is making us all look bad.  Wait until he comes up against Michael Duffy from the Tuscon area.  Of course he is flying Exp now.  These kids are something else.  Keep going young men.  DOC Holliday

Steve, Matt, Bud, and all the guys flew well!  THANKS to all who made the trek to support our meet!  Thanks also to the folks who judged, scored, pitted, and to Guerry Byers, the best co-CD in the business! We NEED to keep the local meets alive...oh, and thank you too, Peabody!

This was a great contest. A big thanks from me goes out to Bill Hummel for running a good meet, despite a lake forming on one of our circles.  Steve Yampolsky let me fly his Stoli Special after the meet, what a plane!!!  He said I was flying combat ship like corners on one of the 5 or 6 flights I got on it.  This contest was the first one I got a 500 point pattern for real.  I took some pics that I'll post later.

See you guys in two weeks for the Mass Cup H^^

Hi guys;

It was a great contest.  Berkshire setting, great group of people, excellent flying, enjoyable sportsmanship attitude.  Congratulations to Matt and Bud.
Expert competition was very close as can be seen by Steve's post.  I've got some pictures as well, and I will try to post a few later.

Thank you Guerry Byers and Bill Hummel for spending the time, energy and dedicated expertise in running the contest.  There are no contests without people like you.
Also the hard work of the judges were greatly appreciated.  In contests like this, we all win !

The red and yellow vector is Lyle Spiegal's.  The white vector is Jim Borreli's, the white and blue vector is John Passalaqua's, and the white nobler is Norm Liversidge's before it crashed unfortunately.  And Will, you spelt grandpa's last name wrong, it's Herdman, not Herman, I'm sure he won't mind H^^

Matt,

Please tell Don (Grandpa to you) that his P-40 is outstanding.

I met Gen. Charles Bond a few years ago. He was one of the Flying Tigers. A really nice guy. Unfortunately he has left us.

The P-40 is one of my favorites, but I never built one since it has been done so many times. But, again, Don's P-40 is one of the best.

Hi Tom,  I'll tell Don/Grandpa that you really like his P-40.  I flew it about 3-4 times on Monday, and I didn't like the handle setting he had it at, I wanted more throw.  He went back to get another plane and a bigger handle.  I put the bigger handle on it, flew it, and absolutely loved the airplane, it turned and cornered, and locked.  I was a bit on the high side though since I was being cautious about flying to low with the plane.  I did throw some extra squares in to shake him up a little ;D

I sent you a PM. H^^

The Nobler did not crash. It was disassembled using the "super quick takeapart" methodology.

Aha! That explains why you were ok with my handle setting! Most folk find it too sensitive.

By the way, thank you for flying Stoli Special. I've never spent so much time outside the circle watching my own model. I saw trim issues I never noticed before. I also never knew my plane(or any stunt ship for that matter) could turn such sharp corners.  ~^  ~^  ~^

I grilled Jim on the finish. Except for Nitrate, the entire finish is water based that does not stink(wife/parents friendly!!!!). Autoair primer and colors(www.autoaircolors.com) and water based urethane auto clear.

Mike Ostella has spent a lot of time with Jim and has painted several models with it....it's kewl.
All European cars have been painted with water-based paints since 1998....so it's here to stay...

Thank you Steve for letting me fly your plane.  I thought I just flying a normal corner, but I guess not >:D  I found the plane a pleasure to fly and like I said after I flew, I loved the way that plane squared, it turned and stopped.  And you don't need to retire because I flew your airplane VD~ , I found it a compliment in my own ability that you would let me fly your airplane.

See you at the Mass Cup Steve H^^

Thanks Bill,
When I visited him "way-back-when" he had just returned from the creek across the road from his house with a string of native trout.  I guess there's no cure for that fishing malady.  (I have it myself.)
I hope he returns, too, he has so much talent it would be a shame to see it not used sooner or later.
Blessings,
Will

Hi Mike,

We are planning to make it to VSC eventually but it's not going to be next year.  My permit is only good to drive within the state of Vermont.  I'm not sure what a junior license good for, but once I get a full drivers license, we'll try to make the trip out there.  Right now Brodak is about as far as we'll go until I can drive out of state.

Michael, you should try to get Roy Trantham or Keith Trostle to take you to Brodak.  You would have a ball!

Matt,  Mike is quite a young man being raised by a single Mother who is quite a lady.  You could drive  to VSC with Grandpa if he would get with AAA and check regulations.  Some states recognize the home state laws.  Kansas used to be you could drive back and forth to school or with a licensed adult.  Mike was at the NATS several years ago with a lot of ambition.  We didn't know about Ryan until NATS time.  He was second in Jr if I remember right.  When he finishes his schooling, watch out.  Too bad our great country is so big.  DOC Holliday

Yeah too bad it's too big.  About VSC, my mother told me I'm 15 years old, not 70, I have my whole life ahead of me, but I would love to go there, see the country that I haven't traveled to outside of Pennsylvannia.  I read in my driver's manual somewhere and now I can't find it, but it said that you have to contact the motor vehicles department in the state/states that you'll be driving in so they either know ahead of time or that way they can say I'm not allowed.
