Stunt Hangar Wood Order Question
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:27:04 PM »
I was adding wood to my cart in the Stunt Hangar online store, but every piece I add is marked out of stock no matter what quantity that I ask for.  Is there really no wood in stock?

reply from TOM

I am never out of stock of contest balsa.  I keep about $2000 worth in my shop to fill orders under $100.

If your order is for $100 or more I have Bud Nosen ship it directly to you.

I’ll try to fix the website.

Thanks Randy! I placed my order this morning. This is also going to be my first serious paint finish. I haven't painted anything since the mid 90's. You may not remember it, but the Cobra I had at one of the free flight nats was my first and only dope finish.

Take care,
Jason

I used the Bud Nosen wood for a long time because they sold it locally. I built many airplanes to Sparky-approved weights when it was to my advantage. I was very satisfied, only rarely did they get the really light types (<4.5) but you could consistently find 5-5.5 lb. I still have a bunch of it, and still use it in places I wouldn't use the 4 lb stuff. It was also closer to the stated dimensions than SIG.

The best part was that the RC guys would do the pre-selection for you, they would leave all that crummy weak wood in the bins and get the really good strong stuff.

I certainly do remember your Cobra, wish I hadn't been so exhausted after the Nats to stick around and watch see you fly it. I had intended to stay of the FCM contest but I just had nothing left.

Thanks Robert.  I checked with Tom and he didn't get my Paypal transfer either and I don't see any activity on my Paypal account.  I just sent him an order manually.  Thanks for the heads up.

By the way I was using Safari so that explains why it didn't work.  Sorry, I missed the comments about IE only.

Randy,
I miss those free flight nats!  They were exhausting, but were so much fun.  I sure hope our paths cross again one day!

Brett,
The wood at Hobby Lobby stores is similar to what you describe.  The crafty types pick out all the "good" stuff and the leftovers are just about right for our use.  If only the Hobby Lobby wood wasn't so expensive.  Also, doesn't help that the closest one is 2 hours away.

Thanks,
Jason

Try running one some time. I'm going this year and if you're at the Stunt Nats I'll see you there too, I'll be there helping Bob McDonald so I won't be flying. Hmmm, my first Stunt Nats since the Navy days  and I won't be flying.

Great, I'm planning to be there one way or another. My wife has decided not to go with me this year. She's been a real trooper the past 3 or 4 years. I'm hoping to talk either my dad or one of my flying buddies into coming along.

I know what you mean, my girlfriend currently has some interest and may be coming down for at least part of the time. Her daughter Angela is very interested and I hope to get her flying the Beginner pattern this spring.
