Or is it Stunt-A-Thun. Either way this weekend is supposed to be perfect weather near the base of Mount Rainier. No excuses, attendance has been down at recent contests.

I'm going Saturday for Profile and for Classic if I drag my carcase out of bed and into a car early enough, but I've got a prior commitment on Sunday.

Saturday was a light turnout but beautiful weather. We flew Old Time Stunt, Classic, and Profile Stunt. Like I said, a light turnout and I thought the scenery and Bob Parker's fleet of Old Timers was of more interest. Bob does beautiful work. Mt Rainier was behind clouds most of the day but still makes a nice backdrop for flying.

It's a shame I don't know Bob Parker. We share the same interest in OTS, with period engines.

I see a Bunch Tiger with a real Air-O prop !! WOW!

OK 60, and Slagle's stunter with what appears to be an Anderson Spitfire? (Super Cyke?)

Hey Joe
I had the pleasure to run my first carrier contest, with lots of coaching from Mike Potter. We had a small group of three, Bob Parker, Daniel Johnson, and Nathan Johnson. The contest went very smooth, no problems at all, someone must have been watching out for me.
Standings for Saturday as follows:
Daniel 1st
Bob 2nd
Nathan 3rd

Hope we have more entries at the August contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Duke. I spent most of yesterday thinking about all you guys having fun. I wish I had been there because I can't remember ever getting a 4th place finish and still being in last place. Scores? Also be sure that Mike passes on the results to Burt Brokow.

I just posted the results in the Contest Reports forum. There were some really close scores, some almost shocking consistency, some almost shocking inconsistency, and some very good flying done.

Thanks to all who helped in any way at all, all who showed up to fly, and all who just showed up.

I can't remember any airplanes dying during the contest, a good thing. And I think we're 100% in agreement that this contest will NOT be at Thun Field again, at least not at the current ramp in front of Spencer A/C. Too small, too turbulent, very rough & uneven surface, and not nearly enough sponsorship dollars for the work involved. JK about the sponsorship dollars; there aren't any. It would take a lot to matter, IMO.

I didn't think it was so bad, and the location does shave a few minutes off the drive time from Portland.

Logistics is a problem. None of us live anywhere near Thun Field making set up a bit of a grind. Then we have to worry about parked aircraft to near our flying circle. The time difference for your commute should only be abut 10 minutes, freeway within 1/2 mile of the field. Our club pays rent on the part of the tarmac we use and coordinating with the airport is much easier. Also, we have two unobstructed circle for our use. For atmosphere and scenery, Thun Field is pretty nice, there is just too many headaches.

I haven't seen him at a stunt contest for going on two years now -- but I don't go to all the Washington contests.

Hey Floyd;
Bob Parker is one great guy and a kindred spirit to us. I have talked with him at VSC a few times and took a liken to him right off. He flew ignition at VSC last time I was there in 2011. He loves old sparkers as much as we do for sure. Those are works of art he has there.
