Title: Stunt-A-Thon next weekend
Post by: Randy Powell on June 14, 2008, 11:18:59 PM
Don't know how many will see this, but the Northwest Skyraider's Stunt-A-Thon at Thun Field (better known as Pierce County Airport) is next weekend. This contest is a blast with a restaurant right next to the flying site that even has a deck positioned for spectators. It's also right next to Spencer Aircraft where I plan to pick up some dope and thinner.   ;D

Current long range forecast is for pretty good weather. Looks like Summer may arrive this next week (we can only hope), but the weather liars are suggesting that starting tomorrow we are going to have some decent weather for a bit.

Anyone else planning to attend?

Keith Varley and I are planning on being there.  I think Keith is coming down for both days while I'll be there on Sunday.  I think that Chirs and Joan are going to hop down in the new RV-7 for a visit on Sunday also.

It would be nice to see Chris and Joan. I doubt I'll make it to the contest in Vancouver this year (need to get one of those new Washington driver's licenses that lets you cross the border).

Mark,

The PA plane I'm finishing has about 150 ribs. Yikes! Course, they are each half ribs so together isn't ONLY 75. What fun!

Look forward to seeing you this weekend.

I should have a new gas gleaned by the weekend...to  AT LEAST...show up with my camera.
I gotta get some shots of all those beautiful new pieces of CLPA sky art and masta' builders and flyers that have dedicated their time, talent, and big $$$$$ dollars in gas money to be there.

Don't worry Mark. I'll be there. Still up in the air if I will fly Classic and PA. Maybe just PA. But I will be there. Both days.

Current extended weather report is partly cloudy and 64 with "light" winds on Saturday. Possible showers (in NW parlance, that means it will rain some, but no downpour) and 63 on Sunday. Again, with light winds. But then around here, a weather report that far in advance changes almost hourly.

At my age cutting more than forty ribs makes me really shakey. I would like to put them six inches apart but I just realized this is not wall construction.See you guys HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~>

Well, a fun first day. I didn't get to fly (darn Shoestring anyway!). But the weather was nice in the mid-70s with light winds and mostly thin overcast. Sure were a lot of Classic entries. But no Shultzie.
