Stunt A Thon and more
« on: June 19, 2018, 10:00:02 PM »
It is this weekend and the weather should be much better than last year.  Now the "and more".  This will also be on Flyinglines.

MODEL STUFF AUCTION!
Recently Ray Grigsby stopped by our Skyraiders meeting and dropped off all his models and supplies to distributed as we saw fit.  We decided on an auction at the Stunt-A-Thon contest this weekend.  Most of it is geared toward combat from yester years with most being flyable as they sit, some with engines.   The auction will be silent with bid sheets on the tables with the items and will run all day Sunday only.  There are enough items that the end times will be split up into three different times so if you miss out early there will still be a chance later in the day.
Here is an incomplete list of the items.
4 ea.        Fox .36X                               Used various conditions1 ea.     Fox .40                                               Used rat race1 ea.
Fox .40S                                             Used, good condition
1 ea.     McCoy .49                            Antique missing points
1 ea.     Fox .36 CS                             MKIII  NIB 1976
1 ea.     Fox .15                                  Used, good condition
2 ea.     Super Tigre G15                  Used, good condition
1 ea.     Cox Medallion .09              Used, good condition
MANY MORE Cox 1 / 2 A engines in various conditions.
One new in the box Sig Chipmunk kit.  This is not the foam wing version but the 1969 Mike Stott model, Kit CL-3.
5 or 6 Demon’s and VooDoos      4 Mongooses or is it Mongeese?  2 or 3 FAI size combat airplanes.  A Nemisis, with a box.  Some NW sport race stuff, models.   One Monokote iron.
Some lines, various building supplies, basically about anything any one of us may have collected over thirty or so years.

I attached the .PDF also, it is formatted better.

The Stuntathon was a good contest as usual, and I had fun as usual.  The above Mike Haverly had been busy with elderly vehicles and elderly relatives, so I told him, "Don't worry about the contest. I'll take care of everything."  I didn't, of course.  I brought part of the prizes for stunt, but forgot the other events, for example.  Mrs. Wescott and the intrepid Skyraiders filled in and everything went smoothly.  Turnout was OK on Saturday for Classic and Profile.  The aforementioned Mike Haverly brought the wrong fuel jug, and his Freedom 45 only got as far as the overhead eights.  On his second flight the engine quit on the first lobe of the clover, and the airplane landed less than two laps later.  Ten points for the clover, zero for landing, and no paternity points, right?  Dr. Underwood argued on Mike's behalf that the loop was a kill loop, so the landing should count.  No official protest was filed.

Dave Royer won Old Time, John Leidle won Classic, and Fred Underwood won Profile.

To my surprise, people showed up to fly carrier.  I guess my mind couldn't process this aberration, because I walked through the carrier circle as usual to the bathroom and tripped over a set of many lines.

The pictures show the total entries for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced stunt and the entries for Expert, respectfully.

Paul Walker won Expert as (almost) usual with his new P-47.  Chris Cox was second with his 20-point cover-girl Hellcat.  I squeaked by Alan Resinger on my second flight to take third.  I didn't make a scene at the contest about getting beat by Cox again, but I cut down a maple tree and defaced a Canada goose sculpture in anger when I got home.  You can't keep these things bottled up.

it was a great contest, I attended as an observer, things prevented me from participating, but my grandson and I attended, monitored thedreaded canadian contingents attempts at domination, my grandson was subjected to the influence of none other than Joan the dragon lady Cox, not sure he will ever be the same, he now wears a canadian maple leaf pin darn near every where he goes,, he asked for fatback and beer this morning for breakfast,, Joan what have you done!!
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!
