Everytime I try to log in, I get something called C/L Stunt, which appears to be a series of images. Anyone else having trouble with logging in to SSW?
Regards,
Andrew.
-
Yes, it seems to be having some trouble at the moment.
Paul

Yep, that site is down...for whatever reason.
-
Same for me, site is down.
-
Stuka still down.

This Am I logged on to Stuka and got a message that I was connecting to unsecured connection.
Told it ok and went on.
About 10:45-11;00 electrical power went off here so all disconnected.
Trying to go to sight and still down at 4:33PM.
Did Stuka turn my lights out? Is this why my banker made me sit by the phone for 5 hours waiting on hes return call in 10 min? ??? ??? ???
So Jim

after all what would I know? I only built thousands of them
OK, I know I'm ignorant: what brand engines? Don't tell me that there's an "Ivey" brand that I've missed.
I've built a couple of venturi's (working), and several piston/cylinder pairs (haven't gotten a set lapped close enough to actually work yet), so I'm a freaking expert.
-
Still down on my end
-
OK, I know I'm ignorant: what brand engines?
Johnson. They were the dominant combat engines in the early sixties. Jim was famous.
-
(Ivey): Check your old magazines. "Jimmy" Ivey was also a top-rated Stunt flyer (Jr?) (Sr?) in those days.
-
Wonder if this weather has anything to do with it?
-
Looks like someone installed a partition on me sometime today.
Thing were kinda funny for awhile This AM and now cooling fan is working over time.
Hope I don't crash this thing checking it out tomorrow.
11:54 and Stuka is still down. Blank page from here.
There is an Ivy Formula 2000 engine by J Ivey. Ran one to 4-5 Nat'l /Reg champs.
20 + years later and still strong and now back up engine for the Quicksilver in the VanDieman.
That's Jay Ivey.

If I am not mistaken and if so correct me. I think he flew a hi Johnson STUKA

Hi Howard,
As far as I am concerned, Jim is STILL famous, good to see him here on Stunthahger!

Andrew.

Stuka stunt is off line because they have a hacker. Every one that was logged on that day got an e mail from (him her) The hackers name is baby b
-
John
Do they have real name and location for hacker?
These Geek Punks are getting to be a real pain.
Wife's email, my Email and eBay account hacked recently and several past hacks on my computer over the years.
Wife's email could not be fixed and Ebay was on the ball and I never knew about it until they informed me!
David

To bad we can't catch these hackers and hang them by their gonads. LL~ LL~ LL~ Just tried this AM and still go back to search list. H^^

Far be it that I would hijack this thread back to its original intent.... :-)
Leonard knows about it and is working with the service provider.
Worst case scenario is that I have a site backup from last Saturday downloaded here and can restore back to that point.
Thanks for the heads up.

I got 2 of those.
-
It is too bad they have nothing better to do. Lets hope for a full recovery

What in the world would a hacker want with a Control Line Stunt Forum! I thought they do stuff like banks and the Pentagon!!
For crying out loud, I mean, does he want unlimited access to the latest bellcrank geometries. Just what is the REAL scoop on C grain balsa. I can only surmise, that he is determined to win that next Oriental kit one way or another.
-
Milt,
That sort of thinking will just drive you nuts. They do what they do because destroying stuff is a form of anti-social entertainment to them. And the term "hacker" is inaccurate. Guys that break into others system without permission are "crackers". Different animal (and a low level life form akin to an amoeba). A hacker is just a computer geek that hacks computer internals for his own entertainment; not others systems.
-
I think the term Crack Head is more applicable- becuase their head is obviously wedged tightly in ther crack! The rectal / cranial interface at 100%

One day later, and I am still not being able to log on
-
I,ll turn him into her with my # 11 xacto blade.
-
I didn't get the hacker Email (thankfully) and I stay logged on all the time. I hope they get going again without too much headache, I'm already starting to have withdrawals.
-
I got one, but noticed His/Her/It's wierd posts and looked up It's profile and noticed the name was strange. When I received the email I think it went to junk but recognized who it was from and I think I deleted it. Is anyone getting any ill effects from the email ??

No, and you won't for a while, unfortunately.
The reason the site is down is not because of a hacker, but the fact that the service provider (Artery Planet) just folded without giving anyone advanced warning.
Leonard is in the process of finding another provider so he can rebuild the site.
More to follow.

Does that mean that the content of the site is lost?
-
I knew this was bound to happen...
Guys,
Just because SSW is down does not change the rules of this forum. Clean it up (yes you can!), or lose your privliges here as well!
-
I deleted the political bickering post, and Don't really want to see anymore of them
Lots of places on the NET you can go to and argue about that,

-

No, its not lost. We have it or have access to it.
Artery Planet founders split up earlier this year. The party who got the use of the domain name leased server space elsewhere. When he didn't pay the bill, the server owner pulled the plug, and it doesn't look like Artery Planet will be back.
The good news is that we will have access to the server and be able to pull it across to the new site one we are set up. There will be some configuration issues that will have to be sorted through, but once that is done, SSW will be back up and running with the old content intact.

That seems to be working very well.
What happened to the real name for user name?
That will also help in other ways.

That's great, Randy. But I notice that such posts don't seem to become "political" and objectionable until someone dares respond to them. I seem to be of the wrong political persuasions to launch snot-o-grams and get away with it.
As far as I'm concerned, I'd love to see a model airplane forum stick strictly to model airplanes.

Sorry, couldn't help it. No reflection on Larry, I'm simply not a fan of the Dalai Lama.
I do often much enjoy the quotes at the end of Larry's posts. Wish I'd copied some of them down.
-
Well, I'm sorry Stuka Stunt is down (hopefully not for the count), but I'm doing fine here. Thanks.

Athough I haven't been over to the "skeeter pond" lately, it has at times been my favorite part of Garf's site. An interesting place to talk out political differences.
Really haven't done nearly as much "for fun" internet lately as I used to ... didn't even realize that Stuka Stunt was down until I heard it from you guys.

Anyone have trouble signing onto the Stuka Stunt Control Line Forum Web Page? >:( :( :-\ ??? n~
-
Looks like some one fixed it for you Brian.
-
Still not working here.
-
I hope they resolve the problem. There are things and a few people there I like to hear from once in a while and build threads that I hope they do not lose.
-
H^^ If Stuka Stunt was hacked it may take them a few weeks before everything will be back in order. Hackers are looking for the personal information so they can mess up thousands of PCs and sometime get information from the next person's PC down the line.
-
Still not working here.
And, its not going to work for a while, Don.
Restoring something is a heck of a lot harder than starting out from scratch and just eliminating everything for a fresh installation.
As of right now, I have everything back to 25 September backed up that can be uploaded to another server. That includes message base and pictures. Now it is just a matter of finding the right provider that we can do this with.
But, the data is intact (to 25 September 2010) and SSW will be back on line as soon as we can.
When the site is restored, we will make the announcement.
Bob

Gee, come on huh.

Relax, guys. Bob Kruger is tenacious and very resourceful. Where there's a way, he'll find it. Give the guy a break....he does this part-time in addition to his day job.

Mike;
Thanks - I appreciate the vote of confidence.
In a compressed archive, there are over 1.3 GB of pictures and messages that span over 10 years of SSW activity. I had the old system back up every day on the server is was hosted from, and downloaded it to a server I have access to in Atlanta once a week (Saturday mornings). Worst case scenario is we lost three or four days of posts due to the meltdown of SSW's former service provider. So, everything from 0545 25 September 2010 is intact. In fact, the archive is downloaded here at my house to two systems, one at work, and on a portable HD. Not that I am paranoid, but I will probably burn it to a DVD today...
The tricky part is now finding a provider that will give me the system access that I need to restore the backup. Leonard and I thought we had found one a couple of days ago, but we are getting some "waffling" on what they will do. No worries. I would rather find the right service provider than have to do this half *ss.
And I want to personally thank Bob Storick for allowing me the bandwidth here to explain the situation and outline the recovery plan. Sparky knows what this is like, as he went through a system meltdown a while back that was painful and time consuming.
Thanks Bob S. - When we finally meet, first couple of rounds are on me. (You too, Mike, if you ever stumble your way back to Benning.... :-) )

Can't speak for Bob (Storick), but although my own return to Benning is highly unlikely, you can bet that the first couple rounds will be on me....for all you've done (and are currently doing) for us.

Hmmmmm, mine has been screwed up since then also. I thought it was microsofts updates. I tried to re-format, but that didnt work. I contacted microsoft tech support. I cant get full screen, the microsoft tech tried and he couldn't fix it either. He said the vaio disc was the only thing to fix those drivers. I didnt have it, so I ordered one. I hope that works. ??? ~^ HB~> :( jim

Stuka Stunt seems up but without any messages.

All's well that ends well, up and running just fine for me.

Apparently didn't end well! More waiting time, but it will be there sooner or later I guess.

Finally up and running. L Neumann has posted a good explanation of the whys .

SSW is down again as of 10AM Arizona time...
Can anybody get in??
Sean

7 pm eastern, working fine, didn't even have to sign in.
-
Looks fine here.
-
Sorry to hear about Newmans website and hope they are on line SAP.
H^^..This wasn't my fault this time :'(
-
Hey Schutzie, did you get my E-mail this AM? Was going to say something about you kids being slow getting the news about SSW. H^^
-
Hey Sparky, how come I can't answere messages. They come to my email, but you are killing the answer.
-
PM's received here via email have never been able to answer on your email as the forward from here does not include an email address. Messages from here must be answered here.
-
Hey Sparky, how come I can't answere messages. They come to my email, but you are killing the answer.
It's not Sparky "killing" anything. I'm pretty sure what you're seeing in your Email is really just a "heads-up" notification that you have received a PM on the forum. Even though you can see and read the message in that notification you still have to reply to it and continue the communication through the forum.

asking a question is ok but really???? in a ten year old necro thread about stuka stunt....I though maybe there was new info on latest site loss
