Title: Strega Tip Weight and CG
Post by: Skip Chernoff on May 25, 2017, 08:08:07 AM
I've just finished up my ARC Strega but have no plans or set up info. The plane weighs 74 oz with ST 60,tongue muffler, Fox Spinner,13x6 prop. How far back from the LE at the fuse would be a starting CG point? I can get as much as 3 oz of tip weight in the tip weight box. Roughly how much tip weight should I start with? She's being flown on 66' lines .018 eyelet to eyelet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,PhillySkip

The Brodak site says 3 inches back of the leading edge. An ounce and a half is a good start for tip weight.

I just measured my Strega's c/g and both are 3 3/8 back of the leading edge. One is built from the Brodak kit and the other is an ARF. The ARF is 6 ounces heavier mainly because you are able to hollow things more than the ARF builders and use molded tops and bottoms. The ARF has an Aviastar .61 the kit has a Double star .60 rear exhaust.

I have 2 3/4 oz tip weight in mine.
