A system for storing your models...

A few people have asked me how and where I store my models, here's the scoop...

  I whipped up this rack system a while ago that works really swell. It just sits on the basement floor, and is tacked to the upstairs floor truss. Then it's tied at the bottom to maintain width spacing, and also braced halfway up so it won't try to move toward the wall. The horizontal arms are 14" long and are spaced every 10" or 11" up from the floor. Protection comes from sections of pipe insulation. I've got about 12 bucks in the whole works!

12 bucks include the planes?  If it does, I need to know your supplier.

I was running out of wall space so I made some new ones to hang from the ceiling. I used 1/2" EMT conduit and bent U pieces about 36" long. I covered the lower part with the foam pie insulation and then screwed them to the ceiling about 8" apart.
I hang the planes by the horizontal stab. You can hang 5 or six airplanes on each set. Of course it helps to have 10' ceilings.

What pilot figures did you use in the Souhoi and the Viking?

 Williams Bros. in both of them. Each of them are modified to fit and also sit at the right height. I made the Russian guy 3/8" taller with balsa, and I shortened the Viking pilot some on the disk sander, and canted him forward a bit.
