Hmm.. A super secret spy shot from the workshop? Not really. After about 12 years and multiple re-fits, I finally decided it needed a true two wheel landing gear. I'll bet it still drags on take off and flips on landings. Perhaps with all three main wheels it would be more stable. ;D Remember kids, you saw it here first.

The two wheel gear does look better. There is an art to landing on grass. The gear has to be a little forward of what is the recommended 15 degrees for pavement. We have been landing on grass for so long it makes it hard to land on pavement anymore. The hardest thing I have is trying to keep from floating the plane in. Usually falls out of the air before touching down. Need to get wheels on the grass or pavement while there is still a little speed. Have fun, DOC Holliday

The single wheel main gear actually did the job for a long time without any complaint, but recently I've had a string of issues with it. Seeing it sit there with both the old single gear and the new conventional gear made me laugh, so I figured I'd post a picture just for fun. Sadly I get the impression that no one bothered to even notice the third leg. The second pic is just to illustrate that I didn't leave the original gear attached.

Dunno about others, but I noticed...and suspect that many others did too. Kinda funny, got a chuckle out of it, couldn't think of any clever captions or retorts and so didn't reply.
Mark it down: People ALWAYS notice, even if they don't say so!

I guess I didn't think of it that way. Maybe I should put the third wheel back on for the intimidation factor? ;D
I can't believe it didn't warrant a single 3 legged dog joke, or a dispute over the Fox 35 that will NEVER work on a profile, or even a 'nice arf'. 'Nice arf' might even fall under the 3 legged dog category. The possibilities are endless.
How about a snapshot of the same plane from 1998? Now I've got to retrofit the mini-me for a proper match. HB~>

Here you go trying to start something. Nobody mentioned the Fox 35 Stunt as those of us that have been around for so long know how to make a Fox or any engine run properly. Also Bill wants us to keep this site from getting vulgar and out of hand. There are several of us flying the Shoestring event with Fox's that are original kits and the only repair is when fuse is broke from a bad catch it is re-forced. I guess I was not smart enough to know that engines would vibrate the nose off a plane that was built correctly. Now Bill don't slap my hands too hard as I get fed up with people still bad mouthing engines. Have fun, DOC Holliday

No "ruler to the knuckles" today! LOL!! I think Andrew was funnin' us. ;D I was too dumb back in the '60s to know what a "Fox Burp" was, and haven't had one since then, anyway. ;D

I was definitely kidding about the Fox not working. Sharp eyes will notice in the first pic that's not a Fox. I took the Max-S 35 off and put the Fox 35 back on. The same plane has also hosted a FP 25, and a piped 25 FSR. I always come back to the Fox because it makes a nearly perfect combination. I've run that same box-stock Fox 35 on there since at least 1994 and the only issue I ever had was a stretch where I couldn't get decent fuel. The FP 25 got around the fuel issue but the feel was all wrong. It may burp but I'm having too much fun to notice.

I saw it also, but just though it was a short coupled trike gear setup. Like a tri-pacer.

Geez' I thought it was a functional piece, come in a little too hot and pancake the landing... TADA extra wheel to take the weight for a moment. LL~ LL~ LL~ I think it's hysterical, put it back on!! y1 y1
