Stormy Northeast
« on: August 29, 2011, 05:51:17 PM »
We had at lot of rain and wind here in eastern Massachusetts yesterday. I was without power from about 11am to 7pm, which was mostly fine since it was light out and I had my camping stove to make food. Misplaced the lantern so was happy to not have to worry about lighting.

Didn't have 8 D-cells to run my radio but powered it from my flight box 12 volt battery instead. Was thinking more about food and water for storm supplies I guess.

How did the rest of you guys on the east coast make out?

As you know, the Lee, MA stunt contest was cancelled due to the weather conditions. Also NE Champs SL Combat was rescheduled for Sept 4th.

Hi Chris:

I was very disappointed about the Lee event canceling due to the Hurricane.

Would have loved to have wind flown.

We never lost power where I live in Woonsocket, RI, but streets all around us did.

I'm hearing generators running all around me. Electricity won't be restored for at least a week.

500,000 people lost electricity in RI alone.  I spent all morning cleaning up the leaf and branch debris

From my yard.  It could have been a lot worse.  There is another storm brewing in the Atlantic,

and is expecting to impact the US in ten days.  The Mass Cup is the 11th of September.  I hope we have

good weather for it !

Too bad we can't get the Lee meet re-scheduled to late Sept, early October.  We should also work up another

fun fly at Wrentham for sometime in October.  I think a lot of people would come.
Things take longer to happen than you think they will,

Then they happen much faster than you thought they could.
