stolen Diamond ring and ear rings at VSC
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:39:28 AM »
I hope who ever has Sandy`s ring chokes on it and the ear ring punchers your brain. The diamonds were a gift from my Mom. The ear rings Sandy is still paying for them. The ring has 24 diamonds in it. Value is 5,500 dollars. The ear rings is 750.00 dollars. Hope who ever took them had a good time at the party.

Pretty sad

Wow!  First I've heard about this.  Where were they last seen?  Were they taken from the home where you stayed?

If it wasn't on her person, where was it last seen ? Did she remove them at the meet?

A little more details are in order before throwing out a blanket accusation like that.

She had them in the night stand in the guest room. The party was at the same house.I didn`t realize people were putting some of there sweaters in our room. Which is next to the bathroom.

Not one of us that's for sure. Hotel\Motel theft is a big business. Normally, you ask for a safe for your valuables at the check-in. I have to do that with my cameras-heirlooms.

That's pretty messed up. If you can't trust your hobby buddies, who can you trust?

Start questioning all the shady characters. Since I didn't make it there this year, I'm off the hook.

Too bad you didn't call the police.  That is felony level theft and the police would have been all over it.  They would likely interview everyone there and take statements.  Often times, under that pressure, the missing items miraculously reappear.

Most of the stuff I've lost was found in the laundry bag or washing machine. My missing tools were always found in the wrong drawer of my own toolbox.  I hope the ring and earrings show up in one of Sandy's pockets or the bottom of a purse.  :! Steve

Steve, I had an Aunt that went shopping in town about 20 miles...when she got home and put the groceries away...she realize her purse was missing along with over $600...she just knew she must've left it in the buggy at the parking lot, and drove back to town. While she was gone, her son was gonna make a cheese/tomato sandwich and discovered her purse was in the fridge.  LL~ LL~ LL~

Then more crimes must get solved in N.H. Good to hear it gets done correctly somewhere. In CA the cops would've shown up, took a report, said "we'll call if we find out anything", then hit the road looking for the next petty traffic violation to write up. Which is why almost nobody bothers to even report crimes here anymore.

Not everyone at the house parties know each other. Is it possible that a stranger crashed the party and helped himself?

I hope that it was not one of the VSC people. Who ever it was should be behind bars, but unfortunately today's judges only slap their hand.

YES!
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING! Years ago...while attending a bachlor swimming party in Kent Wa....a friend of ours had both expensive watches stolen off the drink stand next to lounge chairs next to the pool...while they were lounging on pool toys under a rare hot NW afternoon summer sunny day. Their homeowners insurance paid for it...(even though they were not at their own home in Portland Ore? Hummm? I always wondered how that could have worked without them being at their own home? Hummm?  ::) ::) ??? ??? ??? 010!

We have a separate policy on my wife's diamond ring set.  It was only $43.00 per year, based on $4,300 current appraised value.  It is my understanding that Homeowners insurance won't cover jewelry unless it is on a rider noted in the policy.  That may vary, depending on what the insurance laws are in the various states.

FWIW: a story.

We went on a cruise. When we returned, my wife sat me down and told me that her pearls were gone and they disappeared from the ship. She had filed a notice with the ship. She never thought our cabin guy might've taken them but they were gone.

Ah well, 'so it goes'.

Two days later, while unpacking suitcases and re-nesteing the suitcases, she pulled out a case that did not make the trip.
There, in pristine condition, were the pearl necklace and earrings. In a suitcase that she had started to packe and rejected as not big enough. They never made the trip.

The point of the story: it is possible that the missing jewelry isn't missing, rather it might be in a place it shouldn't be.

Dan,Wish that was true. But, the bag she put them in was in the drawer where we were staying. So we know they mad the trip. The only way the got out of her little bag is if someone helped them selves.

Gordy, pawn shops keep records and most photocopy drivers licenses of people pawning items.  You might check around shops in your area.  If you find the rings in a pawn shop, call the police and report you have located the rings and ask for their assistance.

Everyone should take pictures of their valuables.  These days, you just spend an  hour snapping away.  Then, download them all onto a little "thumb=drive"

Even though I have my musical instruments insured with a rider on my homeowner's, I'm not all that convinced the ins. co. would actually live up to their part of the deal.. They are always happy to write up a policy, but somewhat reluctant to pay, if the time comes.

Gordan,

I just wanted to let you know I feel your pain.  Every time I get something nice, it seems some drug addict steals it.  Corvette, large auto trailer, tools my grandfather used as a Ford model A mechanic, etc.  The county sheriff's department know me by my first name.  I just sat as jury foreperson on a home invasion trial.  Hung jury!  Five of the twelve jurors were not convinced of the defendants guilt.  Ridiculous!!  I wish all the best for you and your wife.  God bless you both.
