Post by: MarcusCordeiro on November 22, 2015, 04:30:46 PM
Though I couldn't be there since I was attending a contest, Steve Moon came for a visit and some fun.
Thanks Steve!!!
My friend Luis was able to make a vídeo of him flying one of Bene's Sharks...

I had a great time! Lots of fun hanging at the flying field and
enjoying the beautiful weather, meeting many of the guys here
in Sao Paulo and getting a couple of flights in.

Many thanks to everyone down here in Brazil!

So Steve how did the shark fly?????????????????

The Shark flies very good! It's a little sensitive around neutral, I found
myself occasionally putting a little hitch into the straight legs if I wasn't
too careful. Of course, I'm sure that more than one practice flight before
putting in a pattern would cure this. If I got my usual 19 practice flights
before the Nats I'd be ready to go!

Bene has a DR 76 in his, which is the same motor I use, so that made
things pretty easy. I thought the plane flew the vertical eights and overhead
eights very well. it was very easy to just pick up the handle and start
flying the pattern. I fully understand why there are so many of these
planes being used around the world. It also looks really good at the end
of the lines.

Maybe I missed it.  What engine is in the Shark?

DR 76 was mentioned. That must mean:

I have flown a couple of them, and they do fly pretty well. I noticed the same thing, there's very little feedback around neutral. I think it's more lack of required control pressure than it is sensitivity. I am also not sure how much that has to do with the engine vice the controls. I would expect it to be even more that way with electric.

That looked pretty good for just picking up the handle.

I could tell you liked the V 8.  It just carved right through it.

Nice flight!!!

Nice flight Steve ..... it did sound just like your engine ..... did they have any of the Kaz motors out that day?

Let's see ..... flying left handed in the southern hemisphere ..... according to my calculations you should have flown the pattern inverted  n~ #^

I don't think so Frank!

I reckon he should have flown the pattern standing on his head. <= H^^

Wouldn't that BE flying the pattern inverted?

Thanks for clarifying.  Now I know what a DR 76 is.  Great Flight.  I would love to bring that weather to Pennsylvania about now.

I like Steve's hourglass. It looked like an hourglass. CPCTE
